The Goat

From a new source, so applicable salt etc etc, but The Goat hears that there is interest in Javi Martinez from Bayern. No details on the outcome, such as wether the enquiry was rejected or otherwise, just that the question was asked.

From a more regular source The Goat hears one last push for Berahino. We're hoping we get up to 3 in but other than Berahino no names were mentioned. Also that it now looks like Adebayor, despite big efforts by the club, is happy to sit around doing nothing although something very late on hasn't been completely ruled out.
Cant see martinez coming, hes also just back from crucial ligament injury to his rigjt knee, is a class player no doubt and midfield engine youd want, but i could only see as a loan if he were to come, bayern spen 40m euros on him!

If we are enquiring about Martinez we must be really struggling to fill that position and that Witsel and Wanyama are not viable.

Hope I'm wrong though.

Witsel, Wanyama, Martinez

If all links are true all it says to me is we are desperately searching without any real coherent plan.

Sounds like we either pull out a worldie or end up with a dud

Brown Ideye has officially been sold by WBA and Glenn Murray is set to join Bournemouth... could affect SB or even Callum Wilson?

Just to summarise some stuff I said in the James Wilson thread:

(Cleared with A&C before posting this here)

From what I know of James Wilson he's incredibly well thought of and highly-rated at Old Trafford. He's seen as a future England striker by most at the club, so I'm surprised we've been linked.

As a loan option I don't see the point from our point of view, as he wont get in ahead of Harry and Clinton, but if United are letting him go on a perm - and the only reason they would be is presumably because Martial is coming in and they can't keep too many 19 year old strikers happy - then we should be biting their hands off.

Comparisons with Frazier Campbell are unfair, FC was never going to get in to the United seniors regularly, JW realistically should be aiming for that.

Just text my pal at United and was told the following:

Hernandez: Not 100% done yet but he will be going to Leverkusen. Categorically not on Tottenham's radar.

Lloris: Has heard nothing of United making an approach.

Wilson: Was initially not assigned a squad number this season, given number 19 at the last minute before they were released. Will very likely sign elsewhere tomorrow, West Brom and Spurs have shown interest but it will almost certainly be a loan. United want him to get as much playing time as possible which he won't get when Martial signs, and United believe that's more likely at Spurs than West Brom who have just signed Rondon and Lambert.

And if anyone's interested in United, he says De Gea to Real Madrid is done, Lindegaard to West Brom likely and Valdes to Tesco if LVG has his way.

He's said he'll keep me updated on any developments with Wilson as far as Spurs are concerned and of course I shall let you know.

I never really rated valdes, but surely he's better than that??

I've got a mate that supports United, too. I'll give him a call and see what he thinks.

Its highly likely that you are :p We might make 10 enquiries in a day and then work from there, I doubt very much we go one here, one there, like chinging up in the playground picking teams. Its also highly likely that alternatives get sounded out where all deals are concerned, IF we asked, then its something I would expect the club to do, sound out and find out who the alternates are just in case.

Not the dreaded crucial ligament, that one's vital!!!

The Goat suggested three, obviously a CF and a DM but does anyone have any idea what the third position is?

Could see he wasn't what we needed, just like Capoue I could've told you that he wasn't good enough after 2 games in the first team.
I disagree. Capoue looked good at the start but too one paced. He is just so pedestrian it's unbelievable. Stambouli I'll give you, looked very limited from the very beginning.
