Chadli can just be converted now to playing in the central role. If its worked on in training and tried from the start in matches (Europa to start with), rather than just sticking him up there out of the blue in games where we are under the cosh and falling apart (see the Stoke game) then I think he can do alright. He's what, 6ft 3, he can head a ball, he can hold it up, shoot, two footed, he can run in behind, and we know he scores goals. Work on the training ground needs to be done.

We have Eriksen, Son, N'Jie, Lamela, Townsend, Dembele, Carroll and Pritchard, plus Alli and Onomah also, who can then compete for the attacking midfielder roles. Son and N'Jie could probably be tried out centrally also, these are what the cup/Europa games should also be used to find out what our options are.

If there's enough room in the squad then I think the bullet has to be bitten and Adebayor is named also, even if its just to fill in for Europa/Cup games until Xmas.

I'm more worried about our failure to sign a central midfielder, and how we seemingly prioritised that less, I think our potential options there are a lot more scarce.

Chadli up front? He's too lightweight in a 'he's a tart' sort of way!

Mike England mk 2.

Dave Mackay used to get pushed up front at times too.
And Peter Collins when Chivers was injured. And Keith Osgood and Gerry Armstong and Don McAllister. Even seem to recall Terry Naylor playing up front once or twice but that was pre-window and back in the era of one substitute. i even seem to recall Glenn Hoddle playing up front once or twice.

I imagine the club is surreptitiously moving Kevin Wimmer from the defenders box to the strikers box on the website as we speak.

Big lad, target man, do a job, always bought him as a striker. All phrases they could use when explaining why they decided that leaving us with one recognised striker that actually wants to play for us is appropriate for a team with top 4 aspirations.

Andros Townsend can play as a striker. Most here don't want him in the team in a wide position and he will put a lot more attempts in on target if playing in the box. If bloody Theo fecking Walcott can do it so can he.

Not that I am happy with just having kane as our only proper forward, but I would rather have Chadli, njie and son than soldado who wouldn't score and ade who wouldn't pit in a shift.

So to me we have improved up top, but not how I wanted, but it will have to do.

Despite our horrible shortcomings in the transfer window there's no point of bemoaning our options, we've just got to get on with it now.
Kane can't play all the cup games. Neither can son, assuming he will be playing league games. I would suggest using chadli sparingly in league games, along with n'jie possibly, in order to preserve them for cup games or when Kane and son are injured. Someone suggested Townsend as a striker on the unpopular opinion thread, which I don't think is the worst idea actually.

Walcott has the slight resemblance of a brain, which is an advantage over Townsend..

Watching some old YouTube clips of Son, showed that he played in the No. 9 position for South Korea, could be the option. But I have not seen enough of him at all really, so clutching at straws!

He can indeed , he has played as a main striker a second striker and often a winger. He's 6 foot 1 and speedy so has some good attributes to play up top.

Yes he looks very intelligent. I like it when he runs seventy yards with the ball straight into the stands particularly when in an England shirt, I always applaud his cleverness then. Oh dear.

I would guess that's how all Managers chasing a CL place think. Let's just bung a midfielder up front and see what happens. See it all the time i guess..........if that fails let's think of someone who would "do a job".

Jezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Son, NJie, Chadli are not 'midfielders'. Neither are Eriksen or Lamela for that matter.

Its not 1987 anymore. 4-4-2. Defenders. Midfielder, Striker and thats your job. Jumpers for goalposts.

And anyway, im not the Spurs manager, but i reckon we will 'bung' Kane up front and see what happens. With other attacking options as a fallback. Or are you suggesting that we should have a 25m backup for Kane on the bench at all times.

The worst thing about all of this is Kane is clearly already shattered. This was the position we most needed cover(if we were selling Soldado and not going to be able to get Ade to play). So yeah, not great at all... So now we go in for strikers in January at over inflatted prices? Whoops.

Playing up top in Asian qualifying tournaments against piss weak opposition is not the same as the PL. If he was that good at it Hamburg or Leverkusen would have moved him there. His strength is running at people from deep, not playing with his back to goal, which you have to do in the PL. He looks gangly and would get knocked around by big, hairy PL centre backs.

When he wants to he can throw his weight around, he needs proper game time up top to get in the mindset of doing it more often and battling away. Someone's going to have to share the duties with Kane.

He was always there. Photoshopped from last year if you look at the background.

He wasn't there yesterday.

He's been put back, because despite not giving him a squad number, and trying to get rid of him, he's now our main option after Kane. Hueng-Min is just listed as a forward to not make our depth at that position look ridiculous.

He was there yesterday and for the last weeks. Just like Lennon who is still there but won't be playing for us this season.
