The board see Garde as the manager Tim convinced Lerner he was, if that makes sense.

Villa have Tom Fox & Henrick Almstadt in their football management & Sports director.
Reality is Tom Fox is a Marketing guy who sold Gatarade in the past & worked with NFL marketing.
Almstadt worked in Goldman Sachs and then joined Arsenal as a data consultant for player contracts.

Add to this Tim Sherwood. All three were learning on the job.
No wonder Villa is at bottom of the table losing 8 in 10 games.

Villa club board are awful & Villa is all set for a disaster IMO. I am not sure how Garde could keep them afloat

Lerner was the only one who wanted Tim. His confidence and low(financially speaking) termination clause, made him a good option for Lerner. Everyone else wanted to look elsewhere.

Vs spurs we need good balance between defence and attack we will got chance win ..

Richards-------Okore------Clark------Amavi

--------Gana------Sanchez----Veretout-------

Gil-----------------Sinchair--------------Grealish

sub: Bunn, Lescott, Hutton, Westwood, Adama, Baunca Rudy.

when we play creative players Sinchair often goals machines even he is not striker, he is great poacher type with creative,

ie if he go winger and drag so 2 or 3 of them ( Gil, and Grealish, Gana, Veretout ) could can slip in box hope get goals in them.
(or Sinchair play as striker he alway running right time and right place, intel awares around box for goal cos Gil and Grealish to tear defence use intel pass to sinchair or past players and give sinchair free space cos closed gil and grealish rather him)

we need play gil and grealish as both is telepathy each other and flair is brilliant to watch, defence often nightmare when both on pitch even one of them gil or grealish "got bad day office" sub adama to fresh attack can change pace if need ...

Dont think Kev would do it formation so likely he go for 442.

I think it's a potentially very good appointment, based on what he achieved with Lyon. They're reaping the benefits of his work with the youngsters there now. Bit risky going for someone with no PL experience, but then there wasn't a realistic but ambitious target who did.

Managerial wise yes, but he lived here, and trained under Wenger for three years. It won't be the surprise to him it has been to other foreign coaches.

I think Garde is a good appointment, certainly a lot better than the nonsense of them giving Sherwood the job based on him having the 'best win ratio of any Spurs manager in history' (and the worst losing ratio too).

Their problem might come from Lyon not letting his coaching team come with him (they are refusing to budge) and the fact that they're already in such trouble - Garde could do well at a reasonably stable but underwhelming Villa, but this is a team, and a club, in complete free fall.

Perusing the Villa Talk forum and I think it's fair to say that they were not impressed by Mike Dean 'celebrating' Dembele's goal and not taking action over Dembele's clash with Westwood. Indeed, the picture below, provided by one of their posters, pretty much sums up their views.
