It doesnt. Mostly because we arent signing anyone.Where has it come from that our striker search hinges on the sale of townsend?

Am i the only one who couldn't careless how much townsend leaves for? More concerned about getting a striker in to help kane.
The rascal!Funny that little baldy thinks the opposite of you
He cares deeply how much Townsend is sold for and is not too bothered about getting anyone in
I firmly believe that should Townsend imminently depart, that cash influx will be the catalyst for a striker coming in.
Just the way Levy seems to work, books never get too far out of balance.
ITK suggesting Townsend is about to be gone, frees up wages, opens up a squad place, and provides us with cash. All
to be reallocated to a new striker, some time soon hopefully.
Probably but I don't get that mindset from the club. No one in will be a big mistake. We've seen as much this season so far.
Cheers for passing on your info though. Let's hope he gets his way.
We've seen it in previous seasons as well.
And just "bringing in another striker" didn't work out when it was Saha....
Saha got quite a few goals when he wasn't injured.
The year we got champions league we brought in gudjohnsson and he got some important goals, so it does actually work if you get the right players in.

You say that but what would have happened if we hadn't got Saha? We've seen it in previous seasons as well.

If a striker improves our chances of securing a higher league position than it makes business sense - CL qualification alone would likely cover the cost.
I can't see why Levy wouldn't sanction it with this in mind - it is more likely we are struggling to strike a deal with the players Poch believes can fit in.
Lots of talent in the world mind you - perhaps too much choice makes the decision even harder.
Christ alive I'd completely forgotten about Gudjohnson. He scored a few goals and gave us another option to play and Adebayor a break. We definitely should have signed a better player that window but Saha did contribute.
I think Eidur Gudjohnson (spl) is a good example of an experienced player who came on loan and made a telling contribution.
I don't see much risk in having an experienced striker on a short term loan IF we can't get Berahino (who appears our first choice). If anything just to give the opposition something else to think about and give Kane a break. With the EL starting back up soon, the burden on him will not be getting any easier.
The "can't make us worse"-solution we already have in the squad. We have many possible solutions to simply patch up the surface of the flaws and carry on. There is no need to purchase any such solutions, when we are not even playing those second string cards we already hold. I'd be in favour of signing a goal getter who'd slip right into the starting 11, but signing yet another gamble of a back up plan is simply not what the club should be doing anymore. The reality is that when you only have 1 striker, adding another will ONLY improve us. It certainly can't make us any worse!
There is thatI assume due to freeing up a squad place and our long history of zero net spend.
Christ alive I'd completely forgotten about Gudjohnson.
I turned 45 today.
So this is what happens? Interesting.
