Surely it's obvious that all our league games have played a part. We have a total of points gained from each of our games, and of that total we currently have the second most. This determines that we are second and doing rather well.
I don't remember inviting you to try and be logical. This isn't the debate society. :p
No, seriously, some matches are simply more important than others. That's just a part of the game.

But, seriously, how? it's not like the three points on offer changes from game to game.

I seem to remember that this was discussed only a week ago or so great length. All matches are important, some are super important.
For instance, a match in which we face a close opponent is super important (which I think is proven beyond doubt on this forum and other wise).

Ha, it must be the case then. QED. I'm leaving it there, it's Friday, that's super important. Let's just hope we don't put all our effort into the "super important" games so we've got nothing left to win the merely "important" ones

When you beat your rivals you not only get the 3 points, you stop them from getting them so the difference is 6 points. Consider the Leicester game, we're currently 3 points behind them, had we have beaten them, we'd be 3 ahead. Hence, 6-pointer. This was discussed at length in another thread so can we all agree now I'm right and move on.

Of course. But you don't know if it's going to be a six pointer yet. That comes with hindsight (when the season ends).

Incorrect. Every game is, technically, a six pointer between the two clubs playing. Some are more important as they will alter the two clubs relative position with each other. We know tomorrow is more important than the Swansea game, for example.

If every game is a six pointer, does that make them all "super important"?

No, it's the last game of the season:
Team A - 60 points
Team B - 59 points
Team C - 50 points

If team A is playing team C, they can lose to them and still win the title; team C cannot catch them and team B might also lose. If team A is playing team B, a loss means they also lose the title.

I'm not sure I can explain it any more, or if I have even explained it very well, but am out now.

It's not difficult to understand, but we're not at the last game of the season stage. We're not yet able to determine if a particular fixture will be a decisive six pointer and therefore we should just win them all, starting tomorrow in a game against l'arse which is more important than others for different reasons. Enjoy the game

tomorrow Arse have to win, to be in with a chance this season, so the game will definitely be open. we have quite a group in our squad that know the importance of it being just a NLD and with a good few of them coming through the ranks, they will be hungry for this.

though all of the goons will have played in 1 too. this is the biggest NLD in my time since 1971, and I was only 7 at the time, but never really read papers at the time, and in those days sport wasn't on TV enough to follow it, so only found out the importance of it a little later.

as GF said earlier, we need to win these next 3 to still have a strong tilt, unless results like this week don't punish us if we do mess up on any. Arse is always a tough game, and even Bournemouth won't be easy especially if we have used a strong squad v Dortmund.

If all goes well these next 3 games, I'm kind of hoping we have to pull our boys out of the international friendlies, especially as most of them will be involved, Lloris, Walker, Rose possibly, Toby, Wimmer I think, Alli, Dier, Eriksen, Kane, and not sure if Lamella or Son have any matches. that's a lot of the squad that will be playing when I think most of Liverpool will be having a nice break

god this pressure is making me ill lol, well I hope its too do with football at the moment, I'm even struggling to eat

edit: most important NLD in the league

Obviously a loss tomorrow would be devastating, but at least we'll still be ahead of them even if they win.

I don't want any of them going on international duty, fucking ridiculous that they do it at such an important time in the season.

I was just replying to a poster that said that Utd and WH will not catch us and pointed out that if we lost our next 2 games and they won theirs they would be right behind us and that's a fact.
The way most are talking on here 3 points against the Arse are in the bag and they are not. They will come back from their bad run and it could start against us. I hope it doesn't and we go on another run and stay in top 4 but we have Utd a rejuvenated Chelsea and Liverpool to play so all this talk about us winning 7 games and drawing 2 and taking the title is pure speculation but some seem to think it's a done deal.
We could so easily lose 4 of our last 10 games and that would make it unlikely we finish top 4.
I think we will finish top 4 but will not win the title I honestly think it's Leicesters as every other side is giving it to them by dropping stupid points.
We could easily lose 4 of our next 10? We've only lost 4 of 28 so far.

I think a win tomorrow is vital. A draw would only be acceptable if Leicester slip up. Our next two games are Villa away and Bournemouth at home and we should really be winning those if we want to be champions. I think that if we get maximum points from our next 3 games it'll surely put us top with a little breathing room too.

The most significant stage of our season will be the liverpool, stoke and man utd games back to back. That will truly make or break our season. I think we need 5 points minimum if we want to stay at the top.

Matchday 36 will decide the title imo. If we are still up there when Soton come to us we'd need to get 3 points. Man city play Arsenal and Leicester play Man utd. I think that if we get all 3 points and are top after that weekend, we'll do it.

Tough ask.

Good post... but I think it's optimistic to think we can afford anymore losses if we don't take 3 points tomorrow. Leicester don't look like losing at the moment and were ridiculously unlucky to draw with West Brom.
