People think we will steamroll Villa, I wouldn't be too confident, some on here thought we would batter Arsenal and get a draw from West Ham and look how that turned out.

Villa might be utterly shit and yes on paper we should be dismantling them, I am not saying there will be a good excuse for anything but a win but I am also saying that nothing is impossible and it's these type of situations where things normally cock up.

The players need to approach every game like a cup final and honestly I am worried if we are going to be starting Mason and a few of the less regular players in games like this because frankly we dropped silly points last year with these players in the side and I don't want us to revert back to that.
if we dont beat villa then we really need to be asking questions imo

Top 4 is now certainly the aim, weve shown we dont have the mentality or balls right now for a title fight. One game at a time and Villa's up next. I fully expect the team to turn up thinking they just need to walk on the park and they will win and then even though its happened to us about 3.8 million times before and have never learned... wake up and realise were in a game.

This post should be saved for posterity. The archetypal only happy when we're losing mentality of some sections of the fans. Bet you've been waiting months to post that, stewing at home when we won 6 on the bounce.

How about not turning up for a derby, or throwing away a lead with 10 men.

edit - Sorry meant to say thanks for responding when you disagreed instead of being a pussy.
I didn't disagree mate, I never give out negative ratings...however, both Derrbys, both very hard games to call and both against very good teams. I don't think we didn;t turn up, we just had those tough matches during a run of games in very quick succession.

We are still in this race make no mistake about it. We might not win it, but I think we will damn well run them close.

When you are not expected to win a title, how can you bottle it?

Not to say they were our 3rd and 4th game in a ten game period.

I do tend to agree that lose to Villa, will see our 'title' challenge actually be a top 4 race, however, we have loads to be positive about, we are stronger, we don't give up and we keep going.

Of course things can change and it can change quickly, hence me saying we dont have the fight or the balls for a title fight right now. Both derby's were difficult games yeah, but the pikeys were all over us. Sorry but if anyone is all over me, I'm gonna turn round and fight back, we didnt do anything weve been doing in previous games and we just seemed to have absolutely no answer for it. As for the goons, well, like their Lester game, it changed for them when they went down to 10, yet it seemed like it was us that went to 10, we were at home, against the scum, they are down to 10 and were 2-1 up and we couldnt see the game out, and we were fucking fortunate they went to 10 as we would have got nothing with the way the game was going. I hear we lost against the spammers due to a hostile crowd lol, we were not mature enough to see out a game against 10.

Of course, were 2nd, I'm proud of the players and management so far they have done really well, which is why I said we have to take each game as it comes and get a CL place.

Before the spammers we were 2-1 title favourites. We were favs to win, Thats a bit of expectation right there. Win against spammers we go top, failed. Win against goons, we go top, failed. I'm fucking dreading going to Villa.

Good news is that those were our 2 hardest games Chelsea and pool away tough, but not as tough as Arsenal and away to spam whose very existence is based on just trying to beat us

IF my aunt had balls she would be my uncle

Love people making all these if's and predictions, if this season has shown one thing it's that you cannot predict anything.

One game at a tme
I take your point and it certainly wasn't any kind of prediction( I hope!), but I was just pointing out that this particular game, out of all our remaining games, is almost like playing Arsenal directly for 3 points. I doubt there is one person on here who could possibly contemplate that Arsenal may not beat Villa at home on the last game of the season(if they need to). So, if we don't match that result it is, in effect, giving up those points to Arsenal. The West Brom game is the same, but you could more easily make an argument for other results in both games.

Chelsea on their way out so 4th will definitely get us in CL, although we still want top 3 to avoid horrible qualifier.

So Hazard and Costa injured?

Fuck, West Ham could well benefit.

We're 6 points ahead of them (7 with goal difference). In theory they could win every remaining game and we still finish above them.

In the process they'd take 3 points off United, Arsenal, and Leicester.

Obviously I could happily live with them beating United, Arsenal, and Leicester, and losing the rest!

Given the remaining fixtures, I'd be shocked if they could get 7 more points than us in the remaining 9 games. They've already had their cup final for a start.

Yeah I don't think there's a real possibility of them catching us, just don't want them getting much closer - the smell would be too much lol.

Ha, true enough.

I think things will be a lot clearer after the next four Prem games:

Villa (away)
Bournemouth (home)
Liverpool (away)
United (home)

10 or more points and I reckon we'll be the favourites for the title.

Probably need at least 9 points to stay firmly in the title race.

7-8 would still be a good return.

6 points I suspect would just about keep us in the fight for the title (although likely to look very, very difficult by that point), and depending on other results we'd have a better idea of how secure our top 4 position is.

Less than 6 would point to a collapse and really put the top 4 into question (although we would have then played 2 of our 3 most difficult games).

Drop points against either/both Villa and Bournemouth and the pressure will really be on to beat Liverpool and/or United.
