Quite sad to see Aston Villa go down, but there is no denying they have had this coming for a couple of seasons now.
The managerial appointment for next season is huge. Get the wrong guy (with no investment), and they could slide straight down to League 1.

Crazy to think it was us, them and City fighting it out for a CL place this stage of the season in 09/10. And I remember the Villa fans desperate for O'Neill to leave. Just goes to show you really have to be careful what you wish for...

They have the potential to come back quickly as they have a large and loyal fanbase, but their squad is one of the worst I've ever seen, I can see Ayew leaving, and the Championship is an incredibly tough slog.

Leeds have a large and loyal fanbase too, but 12 years have gone and the closest they've come is a lost play-off final in 2006.
If Villa don't make the right decisions this summer then they could be down for a long time.

Feel sorry for the Villa fans. Learner has a lot to answer for the way he has ran that club for the past 5/6 years. Can see them struggling next season to get out of the championship their squad is terrible and they are surely going to have trouble shifting the high earners in that team. Also they are going to be every club in the championships cup final so to speak.

I can see them doing a Portsmouth, they'll be in league 1 or 2 before you know it.

His season was already over when he was banished to train with U21s in order to sort his fitness out.
They would be looking to sell him in the summer now that they've been relegated, so I can sort of understand his "fuck it" mentality.

They're probably hoping they can get away with sacking him as there's no way he'll willingly move anywhere else - he'd be lucky to get even half what he'll get for the final two years of his contract and doubt there's a relegation clause. Very badly run club and it won't get better till Lerner's gone.

My guess is he'll be playing for Villa reserves next season. Which is probably a step up on this season.
