Think we are going to miss out on Ousmane Dembele. There was a quote in a sky article that I thought was revealing :

http://www.skysports.com/share/10277645

The part where he says "I know where I'm going and I hope to be in the CL next season" suggests it's not us or Dortmund as we've already qualified.

That coupled with the reports in the press this morning makes me think Liverpool :(.

Would take Mitrovic. He's underwhelmed and he's a bit mental but he's a fighter and always looks dangerous. I think he'd be an ideal alternative to Kane.

Being dangerous because he's likely to stamp an opponent to death is very different to being a goal threat.

Now that would be a real bummer. But on the upside those Welcome to Anfield YouTubers will have finally got one right.

That would be an incredible signing for them. Apparently Klopp has been chatting him up...

I'm nearly certain O.Dembele is going to Dortmund, not Liverpool. People are reading too much into the "hope to be in CL" to mean Liverpool if they win the Europa. But remember this is an 18 year old footballer, is he really going to be so careful with his grammatical distinctions? Personally I read it as "I hope to play CL if the manager lets me" etc.

Further reasons to suggest Dortmund? He's been taking German lessons, he's been following Dortmund players on twitter, he's recently followed the official Dortmund account and he's started following Dortmund journalists too.

I haven't seen it myself, but I've read that he's been liking tweets about him going to Dortmund.

Looks like a short, sharp reshuffle of personnel is in order. Mason linked to Bournemouth with quotes directly referring to him by name, Fazio clearly out of favour, Chadli and Carroll marked for exits. Think Carroll would be a perfect successor to Leon Britton at Swansea though whether he'd go there is another matter. Doubt Chadli would have a problem finding a new club. Fazio hasn't appeared much for Sevilla but I'm sure there will be clubs happy to get him on board.

That opens up four spots in the squad, man for man.

Would think Alex Pritchard would take a spot leaving three spots open which is the amount most on here believe to be the right degree of change, but good to see the squad isn't being inflated.

With registered players, the three positions to be strengthened are CM, ST and the last is debatable - though links would suggest a nippy winger playmaker type.

At this point the ideal 3 signings would be:

Saul Niguez
Alexandre Lacazette
Lorenzo Insigne

If we signed any of them I would be ecstatic. Huge money signings but would really cement us as contenders in anything we approached in my opinion.

A definitely attainable 3 would consist of:

Leander Dendoncker
Callum Wilson
Sofiane Boufal

Not exactly underwhelming but could grow into a very useful set of additions. It's whether we want immediacy or players ready for the 2018/2019 season at the new stadium.

@beats1 the myth comes from the below ITK (not sure how reliable they are, as I don't recall seeing other ITK from them).
@Spursidol the "ITK" that commented on 'his agents/people' being difficult to deal with, did also comment on Bentaleb's attitude (in bold).

Hartyidon COYS re: Bentaleb

He has a big entourage of agents and the protracted contract negotiations last season pissed off a lot of people at the club. His demands increased consistently as the season progressed and by June last year he was asking huge money and talking in the papers about how "tired" he was of the process and how "flattered" he was by all the interest he claimed he was receiving from Champions League clubs. Unsurprisingly this was mainly bluster and there was nothing concrete for him to use as leverage so in the end he backed down and signed a still very good contract with a big pay increase.

Then after his injury he came back and was annoyed not to be in the first team. There was a lot of noise from his "people" and his attitude was suspect in training. He was given some game time and it was felt his concentration and commitment was lacking. He wasn't committing to Poch's vision and high standards.

In the Jan window there was an attempt to drum up interest away from the club by his representatives with people claiming to be his "agent" giving interviews to European media outlets about his future being uncertain.

Poch said in a press conference that Nabil will have his chance if he works hard in training and proves himself. But right now he has fallen back in the pecking order. Mason has fought back in, Carroll has fought his way in, there is plenty of opportunity but he has to give 100%.

Thanks for that.

Think this is the only bit of ITK which was negative re Bentaleb - most of the rest was unspecific but said things along the lines of 'Bentaleb is going nowhere' suggesting that he was seen as part of the future.

I suspect that there is a lot of truth about his contract/wages and 'entourage' as we saw other sources for that too, and the bit about being annoyed at not being in the first team is no bad thing - we want players to aspire to being in the first team and compete to doing so.

The bits I doubt as I can't recall other sources are that 'his attitude was suspect in training' and 'he wasn't committed to Poch's vision and high standards' - which doesn't gell with other ITK reports that we wanted him to sign a new contract (and he did), if these two bits of ITK were generally true, I think Poch would have frogmarched him out of the squad.

Bentaleb is young and ambitious, so it wouldn't surprise me if later in the season that his going to ply an international (where he got injured again) just before playing for Spurs after injury, was not appreciated by Poch, but I doubt if that's a killer to a Poch-Bentaleb relationship. Truth is that he only played a couple of games at start of the season, which he didn't start well in (but the whole squad started slowly in the first 4 games or so of the season - as a loss and 3 draws showed in the opening 4 games) before being injured for pretty much all the rest of the season other than a few cameos coming back from various injuries. Meanwhile the likes of Dier made huge advances to cement a CM position, and even the likes of Carroll showed decent form as a CM so competition in Bentaleb's chosen position was intense.

Assuming Bentaleb is happy to fight for his position, I suspect Poch will want to keep him and if fit, and following a decent pre-season , Bentaleb can be a good CM option for us next season where we'll want a strong squad with options in all positions.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference this afternoon, Marseille interim manager Franck Passi revealed that striker Michy Batshuayi would leave the club at the end of the season.

Passi had the following to say on the matter:

“Everybody knows that he will leave. It is included in the accounts that Michy will be sold this summer. We will accept it. We know why players leave Marseille, the financials are not so enticing, we have to accept it.”

Friend of a friend and all that....... Callum Wilson's family all Spurs fans. He would jump at the chance to move to us. Tied in with Mason ? Bournemouth have quite a few strikers now.

Great little player, I'm not sure how much he fits our style?

He needs to play for a a prolonged period after a cruciate injury. Scout him next season.

Well the first 3 ain't happening as that's 100 million. We won't spend what we don't bring in. If we sell a few, we may have 30 odd mill to spend this summer

personally it feels more like a "i cant believe i'm not guaranteed first team" than "i'm annoyed at myself that i didnt make it to the team". because if it was the latter there shouldnt be any problems, he would be busting his ass in training to make it back in. reminds me of the pogba situation. to be honest i have no problem sending him off if he does have an attitude problem, even if he is as talented as pogba. the culture in spurs is more important than any individual

Doesn't square with other ITK that the club (ie Poch) were desperate for him to sign a new contract.

But if Poch now thinks his attitude is now as you say, Poch will ensure he's replaced
