Very little and nothing are two different things. Just because a few players have succeeded doesn't mean KWP will, Tom Carroll hasn't succeeded, he can't defend. I wouldn't want to go into a Champions League game with Carroll playing so a totally unproven right-back is a gamble. If Walker was injured and he failed that could ruin the whole season. Far too much of a risk to take. He needs a year of being bedded into the squad and into the team first I would have thought. Given his age, he doesn't take up a squad place so no reason why he don't have a back-up right-back and give him cameos to get used to the atmosphere and if it is a Champions League game the occasion. Some players are overawed by playing at Wembley. The risks are just too great now we have gone up a level of football.

I'm not Carroll's biggest fan but he hasn't exactly been any worse a failure than many bought players have and has actually played bloody well in some of our European competitions. Playing him in the role he was given against Dortmund was poor management more than Carroll's failure.

Trippier didn't exactly cover himself with glory in his first Europa outings (costing us a penalty if I remember correctly). And the uber experienced Walker has cost us many a goal as have other experienced players.

This is my point. Even the less successful kids we've introduced have rarely let us down any worse than the bought/experienced options have at times.

If was suggesting going into a season with only KWP as RB I could understand your reticence, but I don't get the panic about suggesting he's ready to be back and play ad hoc games.

People talk about "no experience" or "not proven" like these kids have started playing football last week, when the reality is we've been training them for a decade in some cases and preparing them for this every day for years.

IMO Kyle Walker-Peters is the player most likely to become a Spurs regular of all the kids currently in development. He just looks like a born winner every time I've seen him.

I think I'm right in saying the Premier League release lists are announced today - any idea who is definitely going? I know Chris Paul has already gone to QPR, and appearing on the list doesn't necessarily mean a new contract isn't forthcoming (possibly the case with Carroll?), but has anyone heard anything about players who might be off?

if you consider we rotate the front four we have kane erickson lamela alli chadli son and clinton leaving two short so we bring in someone like jansen and the guy from marseille then none will be sold as i think you need nine. But we may need a decent playmaker to help ericsson. If that happens then i could see someone like chadli going as the manager i think will look at work rate and i think he has the poorest work rate of the nine but i may be wrong

dm dembele dier with carroll mason bentaleb As cover. Lets say we bring in someone like wanayama then i could see one going and for me likely candidate would be carroll.

In defense if anything it could be a CB as dier may be to valuable to revert to a CB so if we did it would be fazio.

So i cant see many going this season
Who the fuck is ericcson

Do you mean apart from passing the ball consistently to the opposition inside our own half? Excellent is stretching a point beyond breaking.

That is where we differ. Ihe is average, he hasn't done any worse, that is no way to strengthen a squad and that is what we are trying to do, so how does it Strengthen the squad? Having a kid who has never played a game as your no1 if Walker gets injured is simply trying top make do. I'm not a make do guy.

Training and playing a game are two completely different things, we have trained many a player for 10 years who wasn't good enough for our first team. I'd concede you may have a point about him v being back=up next year but never when you don't know what you are going to get.

We are in the Champions League and want to challenge for a title. If Walker gets injured early Sept would any other club be relying on a totally unproven player? The answer can only be no.

Trippier isn't going anywhere so fortunately it won't come to that. I think you are a year early with your idea, ahead of your time in fact.

The thing with players like Carroll and Mason is that they're ok backup players but neither of them feels good enough to be able to push for a starting place and if we want to be able to take the next step as a club we need our backup players to be good enough to challenge and overtake the starting place when given the opportunity to shine.

Players like those two though are good to have at the club as an option 3 should we have injuries or players risking supension before important games etc.
