Hmmm... We'll be running out of teams soon, if England, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Germany, Northern Ireland and France are to be kicked out... Iceland - a dark horse for European champions?

It'd be funny if a few teams were kicked out, so a few teams were invited in to take their places.

One team being Holland...

...whose fans proceed to go on the rampage and so get kicked out.

:)

They exist in England. They are just watered down within the general populous. Unfortunately when they travel it becomes more obvious the morons exist

Yes, but it seems like your morons are a little bit more morons than the rest of the worlds morons. What are the prototypical english hooligan in France now? Do they belong to firms, or are we talking about ordinary supporters/wannabes who find their time of their life now when they are "fighting for" and "protecting" Englands honour or some nonsense?

I just saw plenty of clips from the last days in Marseille on Youtube. These lads are so rediculous. Throwing chairs seems to be their favourite activity along with singing and screaming/chanting/provocing. Singing is OK, but not the way they are doing it. And there are thousands of them too.

How can these morons afford a trip to France? Do you actually employ them?

Next time the british nobility should get all the England tickets. More civilized supporters I suppose.. ;)

Scary clips! But I guess there are some okay english there too.

Yeah there is an element within the English supporters who are total morons, but it's no different when they are here in England. It's just here the police know how to diffuse it and that's by keeping them in one area and letting them be louts. They move on.

What we have here is organised groups of ultras targeting the English because they know they could be up for trouble. I'm not excusing the English, but the viciousness of these organised groups is scary.

We're talking paramilitary types here from Russia or France who are there purely for violence and nothing else. The English, whilst loud and moronic are generally there for the football. Yes, they act brash and appear to be a school yard bully, but that's all it is, stupid bravado that has suddenly met organised gangs of thugs.

Should be noted that English fans helped clean up Marseille port, whereas Russians were busy showing off their bloodstained trophies (English flags) on the Internet.

I cannot stand the give it large boozed up attitude of a lot of English "fans", but in terms of violence at the tournament, France and Russia already have much to answer for.

Yeah, I get the impression that the problems and civil unrest over the last few years in France, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Italy etc, has bred some really nasty characters. The Far Right and Left, and hard line Islamists, have been kicking the crap out of each other in main-land Europe for a while now. Added to that, some of those thugs from Russia and Ukraine could well have been involved in the Crimenian War, or at least the Ukrainian revolution.

It's somewhat more hard-core than being a bit 'nawty' on a Saturday night in Romford.

I don't think the English fans, even the tough ones, really expected the level of violence and brutality that was unleashed.

And to think in two years the world cup is going to be held in bloody Russia. The core of English supporters that are involved are reacting to, and not instigating what is going on out there.

You would hope that someone, somewhere within FIFA is taking a long hard look at that decision!

You can't condone the behaviour of some of our fans, the initial scuffles in Marseille were deplorable. The violence they are coming up against now though, from the Ultras, is a different ball game and one I suspect that Ray from West Ham isn't quite prepared for.

A video was posted on Twitter last night claiming to show the moment the Russians attacked the English fans at the end of the game.
Watching it unfold, there was no sign of trouble when the equalizer was scored, just a bunch of very happy Russian fans.
Then the camera starts to pan across to show England fans starting to retreat. However, and this is before the Russians have waded in, it's clear that objects are being thrown at the Russian fans from our lot.

We're all high and mighty saying that the England fans in Marseille were within their rights to fight back when set upon, but of course it's always someone else's fault isn't it - even when the video I saw last night, puts the English fans just as much to blame.

However - the effort at separating the fans in the stadium was appalling.
I can only imagine that they expected that the area next to the Russians was "neutral" so wouldn't be caught up in any potential issues.
From my 1998 experience in France, it doesn't surprise me to see this. At that tournament, every country had a block of seats per game. At the USA v Yugoslavia & Holland v Yugoslavia games we went to, we were sat with the same group of people - all English. And the Yugo fans for the first game were only a block away from us - and were more than happy to start a fight!

It's all very good and well sat here from our comfy chairs, watching the news and judging on behaviour. Thats not aimed at yourself, but to anyone posting about it really.

It's very different being in the middle of it, holiday, drinking, around a crowd, singing songs, getting into the flow and then attacked...

Personally, I can't stand the german bomber song or any of those types of songs that could incite violence, but I also know that if I was attacked, I'm not sure I'd sit and take it, but I'd certainly get the hell out of dodge.

I don't mean to say what went on is good, or I agree with it, I don't and the scenes looked disgraceful, but I also know that throw in mob mentality, drink and being attacked, it's very likely going to happen.

It's not an english problem either, it's happens with lots of nations, the eastern european countries seem way more militant, unfortunately the English have that hooligan tag next to them.

Pretty good video after the game from Stan Collymore tbh, he video'd it live - good 15 minutes worth of footage of it all happening. Pretty frightening watching it, kinda looks like war, carnage, panic, no-one to turn to, even the police not helping it, just firing away tear gas.

It's hard to comment without seeing the video. Can you embed it, or post a link? Did you see the video I posted at the top of this page showing the flare being fired into the English fans?

Yeah I saw that, its just that the English got worse than they dished out.

I really don't know how you can conclude from that the English were lobbing bottles first. They started to move away from that area on mass, and they must have done that for a reason.

no one is blameless
