11m is a great bit of business.....he ticks all the boxes as a DM , big season ahead for us, we need 2 players for each position and we aren't going to be able to really splash the real big cash whilst we build a stadium ...get real.

Bargain for 11m...no fucking brainer....

Ok, let's just say Dier gets an injury & is laid up for a while, are some of you seriously saying that you would prefer Bentaleb over Wanyama for the holding role?
It's a squad upgrade and I for one think it's a great signing (if signed)

Ohh ohh me me pick me i know the answer to that one :p

Not gonna help us with bus parkers on our tiny pitch though and turn those home draws/losses into wins.
We have bigger problem areas to address IMO, good for squad yes, but not sure he improves the first XI.
Hopefully with better players around him he will step up again though...
He's not being bought to help us with that particular issue.

11m for Wanyama is absolute steal.

Wanyama, Dembele, Dier is all we need for CM positions. I dont mind Mason & Winks staying, Bentaleb & Caroll out,

Poch turned a below mediocre left-back in Rose to be the league's best, and the worst RB in maybe all top 5 european leagues into the league's best, and some people are worried about a very decent CDM coming into the team.

This squad is going to have an immense physical presence next season and also our already present athletisism.

Toby, jan, victor, dier, dembele, alli.- jeez id be pretty dissheartened if i was an opposing manager comin up against that group.
Lovely business as i said previously....id just like a second striker and perhaps another athletic creative body although im happy for pritchard to step up if poch feels hes got enough to do so.

IMO, a very shrewd signing and allow us to have more budget in the pursue of striker.

Sorry but that's a load of bollocks. Walker was named young player of the year in 2012 (beating the likes of Bale) and was named in the PFA team of the year. "the worst RB in maybe all top 5 european leagues" Fucking hell...

Rose has improved well but even he was named young player of the season at Sunderland. You make it sound like these were conference players turned good by one man. Utter nonsense.

Really happy about this potential signing. Gives us great cover for Dier and allows us to really stiffen up the midfield if for whatever reason we did have both him and Dier playing in midfield. Poch did have a very successful pairing in Schneiderlin and Wanyama so it wouldn't surprise me if he tried to replicate that at least on occasion.

Whenever Dembele wasn't playing we looked weaker in terms of 'muscle' in midfield so at least with Wanyama we'd have less of a chance of having to put out an almost lightweight midfield.

Sky say Southampton are holding out for £12m but we are negotiating for lower, sounds close, even if they don't blink by the time medicals and personal are done £12m sounds decent all things considered...

The same article also says Celtic are due some money if the fee reaches £12m and that we are going for just under that, so I still think £11m seems correct.

I only saw the twitter snapshot, thanks for adding to this. I guess it makes sense for sell ons to only apply if a transfer profit is made

More budget? We were never going to pay a lot on for a CM. Where we going to find the 30 mill plus needed for a top striker?

If we progress in the CL we will have some very tough games to deal with. I can see instances where we would have Dier and Wanyama together and maybe even Dembele in a MF3. That would be imposing to say the least. Other than that he's a top class rotation option for Dier to keep everything fresh.
