From all the reports and ITK surrounding our chase for Bats we did what we could. ITK talking about us being favourites etc... reports saying the same with yesterday a lot saying we were still likely to get him despite the Palace offer and that we were about to lodge our bid. Those reports and ITK.

My point is that even with that... Chelsea coming out of nowhere has beat us and even with all the good work we'd done there's nothing we could have done to stop them. We did what we could and Chelsea have just gazumped us

I suspect that we did very very little so saying that Chelsea gazumped us is a bit rich

Indeed recommended a long time ago by Biesla jhimself, and watched many times by ourselves. We had been talking to him/his agent for at least 6 months.

This is a blow imo!
Just out of interest, do you know roughly how far apart on Marseille's valuation we were 6 months ago? Can understand if fee has increased and we haven't been able to get near a revised figure, but would really struggle to comprehend why we would pursue a player if we were miles apart on value from the off (irrespective of whether the player wanted to come).

Levy badly let the club down yet again. All this babble about leverage and hardball has again been proved to be so much pie in the sky.

We can soon add Poch to the list of disiluisioned managers... Treading water untill we get new owners.

True, but we can still find another good un if mitchell and co have done their job well. whether levy can fend off the new money at west ham, palace is another matter.

Realistically, a bidding war with roman is something we shouldnt get involved in, and i wouldnt pay bats 100k per week on the evidence of one seasons work

At £30+ million there's the big risk that he becomes another Soldado/Rebrov/Other expensive flop.
While we're trying to fund a new stadium etc. is it worth taking that risk again, or is it better to spend half the money elsewhere???

IMO it is very telling that RM, Barca, BM, and most if not all of the so called big guns have not been interested!

Crossed my mind too, the offers before the russian vermin moved in were from West Ham and Palace, no Real, Barca, Bayern, Atletico, Dortmund, City, Utd etc

The speed in which he agreed to move to Chelsea - he certainly forgot how much he wanted Champions League football next year ... That old bank balance must be looking rosey.

Ok maybe they were interested in the prospect at prospect prices but aren't prepared to pay 35+m for an very unfinished article!

we were never going to pay that kind of money...for Spurs to think we could get him on the cheap when he is his clubs biggest asset is kind of...thick

He could not get in the team ahead of Steven Fletcher much of last season, maybe he is not that good anyway, fuck him
That's not even true. Fletcher only joined in Janaury, and Batshuayi only played 2 games on the bench- the fans hated the manager for that, and he got sacked. At the end of the season, Fletcher and Batshuayi played together.

I don't think it's worth the £80+ per month either, which is why I negotiate a lower price for the same product.
I'm doing the same this weekend with Sky over my broadband deal. I can get a better package for half the price with SSE.
The problem comes if you haven't done your research, cancel the existing deal and then find that there are no cheaper/better option out there.

Spurs clearly seem to be doing the same by not being willing to pay what Marseille want, and going elsewhere for a similar product.

We know what Chelsea are like - they buy up the market, then end up shipping the player off elsewhere on loan for a season or two. We can't compete with that strategy and more fool the player who doesn't see them for what they are.

Are you really comparing Broadband services with footballers?

Well at least Chelsea had the courtesy to nab him off us before we've agreed a deal and brought him over, this time. :cautious:

Well we didn't do very very little. At Trix and others have said we've been scouting and in contact since January. That's not very little in my books. Yes we hadn't got a fee sorted but not like we did nothing. Chelsea came in with a fee and more money wage wise cause it's no issue for them
