Well that was a bit of a statement of intent a friendly we know but we have played 3 champions league sides winning one, should of spanked atletico and lost narrowly to Juve.
Im quietly optimistic about this year and if We add 1/2 more then we might make a few think, im going to say it but Fuck it we will beat everton next week.

The point is well made but in fact it was Ramos in charge and we then went 2 points in 8 games and Harry came in.

Please do not take this the wrong way, but Inter are cannon fodder, and are a pale of the side we faced in the CL. Munich put three past them in the first thirty minutes last week and PSG likewise.

Not knocking our performance today in the slightest, but when Maicon caught his taxi after that CL game so did most of that team.
Slightly unfair on Inter, they have had decent teams since then. Nothing exceptional but none the less still very decent, same level roughly as the Lazio and Fiorentina teams we have faced in the Europa League, decent teams. Having said that they have had a bad preseason.

Anyway, my comment wasn't commenting on the quality of opposition, or saying we are the greatest thing since sliced bread, it was commenting on promising aspects of our play that deserve to be explored further in future games.

Didn't they just finish 4th in serie A? Have they sold a lot of players since then or what? I mean they're not top level, but surely they're alright? Top eight PL? Or is the PL that much better than Serie A these days?

I didn't realise we were playing (there was beer) and without reading the entire thread & without wishing to come across as being a negative codpiece. Could we please cut out the leaking a goal a match habit we seem to have gotten into.

I'd say thats about right. However, Inter only finished 4th due to good early season form in their last 21 games they averages less than 1.5 points a game, and would of finished the season in 8th position had they not had the good start.

Just watched it - lots of positives - Janssen is a proper target man, England boys got a nice confidence boost, Lamela steaming into the season looking like a boss, and no injuries.

Inter were dogshit though - can t see Mancini being there too long.

Actually looks like he can scramble when he wants to. Had my doubts, but I'm sold on him after that. Very clever player and very strong. Excellent instincts.

Great to hear. My remark was slightly tongue in cheek after reading comments after juventus and Atletico .

The hold up play is particularly interesting as I think this is one of kane's weaker areas despite his size and strength

One goal a game is hardly "leaking".

They are not the team they once were
but still decent opposition and took it seriously.
Hard not to get carried away but this was seriously good stuff
Defence played calmly out from the back,
not so much across the back stuff.
Dier showing in the centre assisted this
midfield knew their roles and found their men
and inspired finishing by Lamela, Kane and Alli.
Janssen a real find.
Four decent full backs giving width
Getting carried away now.
Pleased for the youngsters especially Harrison and CCV

Yeah, I know. I'd aired my doubts before those games so thought I'd get in with an 'upgrade' on my opinion of him just in case the net cast out with your post was supposed to ensnare me as well. ;)

I was very impressed with him. He definitely adds to us and brings something different. Excellent addition.

Whilst this is no doubt true, wouldn't it be good to have a player who pops up with a goal AND puts in consistent, effective performances for closer to 90 minutes?

Alli isn't a striker - he has to do more to justify his position as a number 10 - it's one of those positions where just scoring the odd goal isn't enough.

I'm not criticising him today, it's pre-season and he's clearly a huge talent, but it's not untrue to say he deserves much of the criticism he can get during games. He can and does disappear or consistently give the ball away, a lot. I love him but there is huge room for improvement.

Of course there's room for improvement, he's 19, you'd think that people would take this into account, the fact that he's getting better and will get to the point where he's more involved in matches as well as scoring goals. So whilst people (not you) may criticise him i urge them to remember that he's nowhere near the finished article.

Absolutely adored that final Harrison goal.

Great football all around, particularly from Janssen. Kane would have had a go from where he was but I loved the composure he displayed to play in Lamela. Just a bit of class where I thought this boy has got it.

Looks a terrific piece of business.

Yeah, he showed much more composure and holdup ability that was missing from the first couple displays. Put in a great 45 minutes and buys into the pressing tactics. Should be a great buy considering the prices people are going for and the added bonus is that he wanted to be here. Great attitude to start and it will be fun to watch him assimilate.

I think we will see much more of Harry and Janssen playing together. Harry has some of our best vision in heading forward and albeit an amazing striker, he isn't the best outlet when under pressure. Playing off Janssen, Harry will be able to one, two and run off the first touch of Janssen. It could become a nice combo for end of game situations.
