I think today highlights this a little. Our rivals are buying players that go straight into their first 11 where as we are getting players to strengthen the second line.

If we are bit careful, we could be left behind!

.... been blindingly obvious to me since the end of last season. Poch is struggling to improve a (on its day) a very good starting 11. A big challenge for a still inexperienced manager at the top level.

It's not all doom and gloom, but the fact is that all teams aiming to compete at the top of the table, and for other trophies, need to invest each year to improve. I realise we don't have the resources of most or even all of the other big teams, and we have a new stadium on the way.

But we NEED a couple of players who can come in and improve the first team. VM and Jansen are a good start, but Eriksen badly needs competition, and our bench today was shocking IMO. Mason, Chadli, Carroll are seemingly on the way out. If we don't strengthen the team we will be basically fielding the same starting 11 the whole season and in the CL, with youngsters on the bench and playing in some cup games.

We can't just rely on Dembele to fix everything, and assume that the squad will achieve what they did last year. All the other big teams have invested heavily, and Man U, Chelsea and Liverpool all look a very different proposition from last season.

We are a team that hasn't been playing at full throttle yet once we click we'll be a force.

We addressed certain position we were short last season ie another DM and CF so we haven't exactly been standing still.

I think what we really do need is a bit more electric pace.

2 new players in our 11, how many did Pool have?

Missed the game so honest question.

Think we are really suffering due to early season fatigue, by the sound of it, reading some of the less idiotic posts in the match thread.

As Poch dictates this he should have scaled Kane , Dier and Alli (et al) right down and I'd be interrogating their home diet and mineralisation planning. You can't have longevity to a high mineral depleting methodology, unless you incorporate world class 'Rest and repair', everyone can see we are lacking here, freshness.

Maybe they need more lemons

Once again we start slowly (albeit actually up on last season's slow start) and people are seemingly freaking out. Y'all need to chill the hell out and let the team come back together again, we all know what it can do when it settles down properly.

No doubt. If the body becomes too acidic then HCI levels may lower I believe, then we may not break down foods well and struggle to break apart the energy within the foods, lemon is dilute HCI. However if of low quality (sugars) then it may exacerbate the issue, plus around 1 in a 1000 are allergic.

Another example if one has ulcers from h.pylori then the bacteria creates acid wastes, so again homeostasis signals the liver to produce less HCI to avoid acidosis, meaning you get secondary issues, especially meat eaters, of gut rancidity because you were not able to sufficiently digest food, calcium glauconate is a key calcium salt for the liver to produce HCI (pepsin?).

But more importantly they need copious exposure to magnesium which Kane in particular is lacking (to allow the body to convert through carbonic and expel/re-use acid wastes).

Or, bloody break even Levy?

Unfortunately we were a relatively unknown force last season but this season teams are setting up differently and handling us quite easily. We now need to see if Poch can counteract this.

The DM & CF are supposed to be back ups. I can't quite believe we're playing with 2 DM's. Of course that will change once Dembele is back and one will have to be on the bench.

What we're missing is pace and creativity.

What disappoints me is seeing Pereya join Watford and Boufal looks like going to Southampton. 2 players that would improve us no end. Maybe we're getting someone even better than those two? One can dream

I could be wrong but i am almost certain, someone posted the exact same words when AVB was in charge - so we should be "clicking" about any time now.

IMHO, with the exception of Lamela, what we are really lacking is some passion. Most seem to be running around 1/2 arsed not knowing what they are supposed to do.
Last year's high press is simply not there and although I am a big fan of Mauricio's this stops at the manager 's door as the team, subs and all, is now of his choosing.

They had to...we were ahead of them based on last season's results.

But, we have added two starting XI calibre players in Wanyama and Janssen. We are currently playing without the best box-to-box MF from last season - who will be back in a few weeks - wait for it - just like a new signing...

As frustrating as it may be, we are still 2 points ahead of last year's pace, we are playing without two starters, and our depth actually has more quality this year.

Warned about that since January TW. People keep laughing at me and telling me "we will improve, all the others will fuck up". If we nail top 4 again it will be an incredible achievement.

When did the likes of United, City and Chelsea become our rivals? We finish 3rd and suddenly that makes us on a par with these clubs. Those clubs capacity far exceed our own, if you cannot match a clubs capacity in the market you cannot be considered a 'rival'.
