Surely we've got an alternative to Isco???
Yeah - Onomah....
Surely we've got an alternative to Isco???
Really??sssshush, he's a member on here lol
We are on to our 3rd backup list, button detonated 5mins a go.
Not even convinced that "N'Koudou replacing Chadli" guarantees us anything more than Chadli offered.
He could take 18 months to adjust - or he could admittedly slot straight in. He could be completely hit and miss.
Sure, that's the risk with any player, but as it stands, I consider it a like for like switch.
Really??
I wish him well, very gifted player. I liked him.
Rebrab commented earlier about mainly going for players with established prices and release clauses.. is there anyone out there who'll be our potential Charlie Adam?
We were 2 players short last season. We've filled those needs while then gettind rid of 2, potentially 3 players who played a ton of minutes last year while bringing through Winks. We're still 2 players short.Couldn't agree more! However...we don't have the resources....ah, why bother. If you haven't gotten it by now.
Wanyama is an upgrade on all of the midfielders that have lelt...come to the light. It's a happier place
COYS!
That'll be our £4.3 million bid for Rodriguez heating things up.Did anyone drag over Valencia Yids post from the Sissoko thread ? Could mean anything really
"Not quite. But have heard nothing regarding Sissoko.......Hot in Madrid though"
To be fair I think it makes absolute sense to start the season with the experience of Dier and Wanyama together. I don't think Poch wants to throw the youngsters in at the beginning of the season. I think once we're up and running at our usual level we'll see more of the likes of Winks starting games. I expect he'll start against Gillingham for example.Better start playing these youngsters then, all very well clearing the decks to play Winks, but then proceed to persevere with the painfully clunky Dier-Wanyama axis
It's not only about debating whether we have strengthened, it's about whether the squad has improved compared to our rivals. The answer to that is an emphatic no. Chelsea, City, United (and even Arsenal) have all improved their options significantly. Given all our outgoings it could be argued we've actually got less options now than we did last season.
Durrr....
There's a member with the username AndyReid... hence the response lol
I don't think anyone doubts the incomings we have made are an upgrade on players released.
I think the issue surrounds squad depth - and the ability of players to step up in case of injury / fatigue / rotation.
Its not like we can play "weakened" sides in the CL group stages like we did in the Europa.
We would also hope for decent cup runs in both domestic comps. If Poch feels the likes of Winks, Onomah etc can step up and make an impact when needed, great.
I just think there is legitimate concern from most that if we get an injury crisis or suspensions to certain players (e.g. Dembele and Alli) like we saw at the end of the season, do we have the quality in depth to deal with it, in what is possibly going to be one of the most competitive PL season's for some time.
The problem with Chadli is his form fell off a cliff. The problem with saying we've replaced him with an unknown is as you say - we've no idea how good he is/will be, how long he will take to adjust etc.
The other side of it is that Chadli could've just been suffering a temporary loss of form and this season could've come back as the guy who scored hatfuls the season before last and was one of the first names on the team-sheet.
It's this idea of shipping out players who aren't utterly perfect and constantly on mega-form I don't like. Poch seems to have absolutely zero capacity for standards dropping (unless it's Kane), which simply isn't practical in sport.
We were 2 players short last season. We've filled those needs while then gettind rid of 2, potentially 3 players who played a ton of minutes last year while bringing through Winks. We're still 2 players short.
Mitchell had ambition no wonder he left.
