What I don't get is how we had ITK yesterday alluding to us being prepared to sign both Isco and Zaha on perm deals... which would have set us back the best part of £50-60m. Yet with both deals apparently dead in the water, we're not prepared to spend a proportion of that on an albeit inflated asking price for Sissoko, something doesn't add up. You can't say we're going to spend £60m on two and then go and contradict ourselves by not paying £25-30m on a separate individual. Smells of our usual deadline day false dawns.
Depends how hard they tried. Half hearted efforts to keep fans happy don't count.I think most people would think that trying to sign Isco was a sign of ambition.
The problem with Chadli is his form fell off a cliff. The problem with saying we've replaced him with an unknown is as you say - we've no idea how good he is/will be, how long he will take to adjust etc.
The other side of it is that Chadli could've just been suffering a temporary loss of form and this season could've come back as the guy who scored hatfuls the season before last and was one of the first names on the team-sheet.
It's this idea of shipping out players who aren't utterly perfect and constantly on mega-form I don't like. Poch seems to have absolutely zero capacity for standards dropping (unless it's Kane), which simply isn't practical in sport.
So if we're where we were last season, why is everyone so catatonic with rage, depression and a general sense of impending doom?
Last season was okay no?
Yes yes others have strengthened but for Jebus' sake people need to get a grip. It's genuinely sad how some people react.
Really, we get this faux shit every year and every year we fall for it.I think most people would think that trying to sign Isco was a sign of ambition.

In regards to Chadli, Monday Pleaty said Chadli was finished at Spurs
. He said he had bad habits which could not be eradicated at his age in regards to his play and movement.
Others have strengthened quite a bit. Top 4 revert will back to form. No way are we fonishing above arsenal as we never do. And United, Chelsea and City are all better than us.So if we're where we were last season, why is everyone so catatonic with rage, depression and a general sense of impending doom?

What on earth makes you think they're trying to keep the fans happy? It's not a popularity contest...Depends how hard they tried. Half hearted efforts to keep fans happy don't count.

I'm assuming you know this for fact.ITK suggesting we have been trying hard for him all week and Levy himself flew over to Spain to try and convince the guy - I'd say that's trying pretty hard.
Not razor blade time quite yet. These things are often off and on during deadline day, just have to wait and see what happens. We may not get anyone else in but I'm sure we are haven't given up just yet.
I'm assuming you know this for fact.
In reality the backup for Kane never became that much of an issue because he played every game. The real issue in the first team was the lack of a magic lock picker, with pace and trickery who can beat layers in tight spaces. And a glaring lack of pace up front. Poch has said a few times now he wanted to bring in more than 1 signing this window in that area - but it seems we'll be relying on NKD to be all of those things right from the start.
