Given our need for an AM I don't understand why we didn't move for Nasri on loan. I know a lot of people on here will give me a WTF for this but the truth is he would be a great addition to our front 3. He still has home in London as well so would have been a no-brainer for him.

Have to say I hate him and he's a **** but I agree. Has unbelievable quality and would have had a big point to prove. Probably doesn't work hard enough for the system though.

Danny Murphy summed it upon perfectly along these lines, "As a Spurs supporter I am disappointed in the signings overall. Can you say anyone we signed can challenge any of the established first 11? No you can't. We need someone like Mane, the right age and proven. He drives Liverpool. Would he be a starter for us? Yes. We have not taken advantage. Comparing to the teams around us, they have increased in quality leaps and bounds. We haven't. He went on to say he is not convinced in Janssen, and whilst Wanyama is a good signing and was needed, we have not addressed with that special Mane-type player".

I agree with him.

Isn't N'koudou exactly that sort of player? Pretty sure every time he gets the ball he runs at the opposition. Who knows if he'll turn out good but we've done exactly what Soton did when they signed Mane originally and signed someone at reasonable price with upside.

Wanyama and Janssen have filled gaps in squad. My main issue is we literally have no one who can do what Dembele does, not even close. Without sorting this it's hard to view this window as a success at all.

I know we havent signed a worldie like Isco, but our transfers are fairly decent, and keeping players like Son could be like a new player if he hits form. Probably not a popular view amongst those who want to cut their wrists because we haven't signed Sissoko, but I feel very optimistic that we can progress and challenge like last year.

i think i need to get a better understanding of not only our club finances but also other clubs. With all this extra money washing around from 3rd place, and CL and new TV deal i thought we might have quite a large positive net spend this summer. But nothing has changed in that respect.

Forget positive net spend, we're in the black this year regarding transfers.

Poch said we needed someone like Mane.

For the money we're allegedly offering for Sissoko, we could have just signed Mane.

Our transfer strategy is so amateur compared to how every other aspect of the club is run. Hugely frustrating.
Did we 'allegedly' offer £38.5 million for sissoko? If that's the case why I'd he not on his way to spurs instead of Everton?!

There was all sorts of shit being spouted at this point last year just before our best season in donkeys years.

You can certainly argue we "got away with it" last year. If Kane had got injured long term our 1 striker policy might have seemed a tad foolish then.

I think the people who are concerned this time round are purely failing to understand why we risk leaving things up to chance when we are a profitable CL club.

Didn't mention no improvements to their defence then?

No excuses! You leave it late every year and come up empty handed, either learn your lessons or admit your not ambitious enough
