I'm sure we only just signed this guy. It took Lamela quite a while to get to grips with the PL

I think the guy needs support.....from all of us

Turned 22 a few months ago and people expect him to be player of the season.

Jesus wept.

22 is actually not that young in football terms.

Don't think people are expecting him to be player of the season either but for a £20 million signing you'd at least expect something of a goal threat and to be able to last more than 30 minutes wouldn't you say?

Works hard, great at holding the ball up but his finishing is up there with Pavlyuchenko and Townsend... shoot on sight and end up giving the space station a close encounter.

Jaysus Christ, man-I could scarcely believe that the space-station-shot had not taken a deflection. In terms of toothlessness, he reminds me of Crouch.

I thought he played well today.

He is big and strong and receives it well to feet in good areas. He did that really well today.

The issue was that Poch didn't pick any wide forwards willing to run past him in attack. Son loves playing with him and I reckon GK N'Koudou will too.

Bit tough when their defence is sitting on their goal-line the majority of the time.

You picked on my point to justify why Janssen isnt scoring. Haha. Funny.

I agree its tough and my ppint was not a criticism of the team but a reason.

Look teams win those kind of games, look at arsenal against burnley.

And when our tactics weren't to get the ball to him in behind the defense.

It's like people have no clue what they're watching (shock horror!).

Not really.. I picked on your point as you accused him of not getting in behind today's defence.

I agree; he should be threatening the goal more, but at the same time it should be players like Lamela & Son making runs in behind defences in the system we play.

Lamela in particular is shit at it and comes deep far too often to allow us to stretch defences and free up space for the No.9.

his positioning and decision-making left far much to be desired... if he stayed onside for Son to pass the ball forward, we could have won the game if he put the ball through foster..

but TBH, he works really really hard for the team... really expect players like Lamela and Eriksen to provide more for him if they are not going to be like Alli running into the box.. seriously they should see him as a striker at times, so give him the damn balls sooner, and not making him duelling all the high balls despite he is being really good at it... he is always asking for the balls and he is not afraid to take on the defenders, so they should really be less hesitant IMFHO...

To get the best out of Janssen you need players getting in behind and supplying him. My concern is you cannot play him and Lamela together, then
Eriksen. This is not a dig at the two. It is just that Janssen will not give you penetration, and not his game. You would hardly call Lamela and Eriksen plays who give you penetration. My own opinion, you will have issues as a goal threat.

That was exactly my point which contrary to what the previous posters suggest i did not suggest that Janssen run in behind because simply thats not his game.

At present he plays his back to goal half the time because we arent getting in behind enough for him to have the chance to get in the box and attack the ball. Hence Son is vital. Sissoko wont do that so much. Nkodou could. The wing backs will.

It is there for all to see. You need to have balance.
