I think it shows his confidence more than anything and that he is comfortable playing first team football. That could have screwed up royally, if it went straight to keeper, they went long and scored. The safe option as we know would be to keep it in the corner, but he felt established and confident enough to take that risk. It's a good sign in general, outside of the clever piece of play

Great assist for Allis goal, what a football brain this guy has
I was thinking that Carroll would have done the same thing, and probably Mason, too. We seem to have developed a nice group of thinking midfielders over the last few years, with Winks being the best.

against milwall may be nothing, but he played a worldy IMO.. grit and speed, for a build like him, astounding.. partnered Wanyama superbly.. great rotation with Dembele no doubt at all!!

He was like a hybrid of Carrick and Parker today. I bet he's a right shit to play against as well.

Such a positive and courageous player. He always looks to move to ball forward quickly and isn't afraid to have a shot on goal or get in to the box, despite his height. I see Winks being a top top player for us for a long time.

Compared to Dembele, with his obvious talents, he [Dembele] really should be creating more chances for us. He is content with skipping past a player or two and then just pass it sideways. He plays like a second defensive midfielder, when he really has the qualities to be a box to box midfielder. Even Wanyama has more shots on goal during games. Hard to believe Dembele was once a striker.

Without a doubt for me, there will be no comparison with what Harry Winks will achieve with Spurs and what Mousa Dembele has and will achieve with Spurs, on a personal level.

Winks is a far greater goal threat than Mousa, he gets off a shot or two a game, where as Mousa is lucky to take a shot every 3-4 games.

He was just brilliant today and has been in previous games. Keeps the ball so well. Great range of passing. Great awareness. Moves the ball quickly. Can receive the ball in difficult positions. Positive at the right times. Closest thing we've had to a Modric and still so young.

I really think we've got something special here. Another one.

Obviously nowhere near the same level as yet but does remind me a bit like Xavi in terms of his passing range and style. Hope as he becomes more established he becomes even braver with his passes as think / hope he has that vision to really split defences And make the most of the movement guys like Delli offer. Moussa for all his attributes can't take three defenders out of a game with a through ball which winks seems to have the ability to do

I wonder what the odds are of an England call up next week ?
Henderson is injured and overrated any way. I can't think of anyone better than Winks to play in central midfield for England alongside Lallana.

I'm a sucker for a CM with lovely technique and an eye for a pass, I've high hopes for Winks. Not that it's really relevant to Winks but it's one thing that does leave me scratching my head with Alli, of course he makes good runs and knows where the back of the net, so on and so forth, but his actual technique when controlling, passing, shooting etc just looks to me a tad awkward, perhaps it's his size and build.

I noticed he did another one of those chipped through balls over the defenders for Son/Dele to run onto the way he did with the free kick v Everton. It's something i haven't seen very much, but shows brilliant vision and technique to weight it perfectly.

Quality player, did very very well today, I hope he continues to progress with us and becomes a mainstay in the team.

I hope he gets a call up, he deserves it and it goes along way in continuing his development.

I agree, he would deserve it. There have been players called up before that have deserved it less.

However, i'd rather he just concentrate on Spurs this season. For now.
