Surprised so many are against him, I think perhaps some have unrealistic expectations of what is achievable for someone trying to slot into our system.

I think he will improve as he gets used to playing with Son, Dele, Eriksen etc and they get used to him. There was one against Watford where Trippier flashed it across the goalmouth and he wasn't there - as he gets to know the players he will know what Trippier will do and so already be moving to get into place.

I like him and I think he occupies defenders which leaves space for Son, Dele etc if nothing else. Hope we persevere.

i think he has the brain to become a good striker, seeing how he wins positions like the chance he had, where he rolled over the defender for a shot. that should have been a goal but gomes did well to keep it out.

alot of people says if he had better instinct he would have scored more, true to a certain extent, but i would say his fitness played a bigger part.

i feel his body could not react as fast as his brain could, so he always reach the balls a fraction late. having the fitness to actually do that plays a huge part. on top of that i dont think he'd ever played with a squad that plays with such speed during attack/counter attack.

give him one full off season and i think he will improve by alot

He didn't miss a "sitter." I've watched that numerous times from different angles, and it was very easy to fluff that chance due to the way it bounced.

As my old PE teacher said to me once after I had missed a similar chance. Boy, I could have put that in with my cock. mmmm yeah, cheers sir :(

Is it ok to expect a decent first touch? Or to be able to score a goal from a yard?

With a hard or soft cock? Soft cock would be extremely difficult I would imagine

Maybe we should loan him out to another Premier League side next season so he can play regular and hopefully find his feet in the league. If it works out we still have a player on our books and bring him back, if not we move him on. Thinking someone like Bournemouth or Southampton.

Caveat is we would need to bring someone in on or near Kane level, not easy I know
I think he'll be better next term and should stay but depending on who else is available, I suspect we may well sell him if we find an upgrade. No room for sentiments here.

Strikers need to score goals. Obviously you need hold up play etc, but if you're a striker who doesn't score you're not going to last very long.
I am just looking at it through a different prism.

You see positions: "striker" and think "goal scorer", thus a striker who does not score is worthless.

Instead of positions, I see roles. So, instead of thinking as our front 3 or 4 as a striker and Attacking Midfielders, I think of them all as a collective group of attacking players, with different responsibilities. Those roles include "scorer" "creator" "player-off-the-ball" and "hold-up player" those roles can be covered any number of ways by the attacking players, as long as someone is playing each role.

Kane can obviously fill more roles than Janssen right now, but that does not mean Janssen can not be effective performing one of the roles, while Dele, Eriksen, and Son play the remaining roles.

The other thing that stands out for me is that he was called out very publicly by Poch, and he has clearly responded to the criticism in the right way. I think the goals will come, and as long as he keeps filling a role, and working hard, there will be a place for him.

no I am sorry he was terrible yeah he rolled a defender but he has to score, he lifts it he scores and the miss it sums him up really - his link up play I am sorry but it was awful, his touch time after time goes nowhere and couldn't read a book let alone a game of football. He simply isn't good enough on the ball and he has no football brain, I am sorry if we can't do better than him as he will take us nowhere
With you all the way, ralph. He has the agility of a scarecrow.

I personally think people have been spoilt by Kane and now think he is the standard and therefore why can't we get someone similar? Kane is a freak, he'd cost us easily £50M in today's market but we should just go and buy someone similar on our budget - behave!

Unrealistic expectations? If you has said at the start of the season after we bought him he would score not a single prem goal bar penalty and one goal in all comps, what would you have said? This for the 2nd best team in the league.

No, just someone that can score a few goals. Son has 18 this season

I think he will score a few goals - other than pens. I also think he will be much better next season with more exposure to the rest of the team.

Out of interest, if you'd sell him, who would you replace him with?

I hate that response. The club has lots of scouts. I dont care who they bring in as long as they can score goals.

Here's the thing though....those same scouts looked at Janssen....so really who would you look to bring?

Let's ne honest here, he was a punt and it hasn't worked. I'm don't know if we need to sell him next season. But would anyone be happy if we went in to next season without buying another striker???

And brought in Alli, Dier Lloris, Alderweireld etc....They are allowed a mistake dont you think?

Well that's kinda the point...Bringing in a striker who will be able to hit the ground running isn't just a formality. If people struggle to name a replacement to Janssen who is garanteed to be better do you think our scouts will find it easy to replace him?
