As Spurs Fans, we need to start to believe that we are winners. We have had 2 amazing seasons. Yes we fell away at the end of last season, but I think we have learnt our lesson from that.

We are already mixing it with the Big Boys, we are above Klopp, Pep & Mourinho on merit, we are finally getting some recognition to where we are in the stakes now, Yes things may get tighter next season and subsequent seasons, but we are there. We have finally earned our right to sit at the top table, All we need is a bit of silverware and I feel that is just around teh corner.

We, The Mighty Tottenham Hotspur have arguably the best Manager in world football, We have a young exciting squad with some of the most promising young talent playing for us!!

So why do we worry about Arsenal getting a 'Top Name' as a manager, why worry about them not getting into Europe as this will make next season easier on them.

Yes they have the potential to become great again, but so do we and we are further along that road, much further.

So let them do/appoint whoever they want.

WE ARE THE MIGHTY SPURS, OUR TIME IN NOW, SO F**K ALL THE REST. THEY SHOULD BE MORE WORRIED ABOUT US AT THE MOMENT THAN WE SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT THEM!!!

COYS

I remember travelling back from Sussex on the night they won the league 2-0 at Liverpool, listening to it on the radio and I was cheering for them. I was so sick of Pool being spoken of like all conquering gods and winning year after year.

Sorry guys. Do I deserve a lifetime ban??? :(

I hated Liverpool so much at that time I confess I had similar feelings. Not exactly cheering for them, but certainly not unhappy.

the 2nd caller lol

OMG

Actually blaming the defeats to Palace and BAYERN(!) on not being given penalties? And saying they'd have won a lot more over the years if they'd had more decisions go their way?

This guy supports probably the luckiest, jammiest, most dodgy-decision-getting team in the history of modern football FFS!

It's incredible how any one person can be so completely and utterly deluded. Glad they destroyed him for it.

Agree 100%. One thing about Wenger is that he is an honourable chap. The only negative about all this is that I can't see him staying on now unless he somehow pulls it together to win every remaining league game and win the FA cup again. I would rather see him stay on and Arsenal to stay relatively average because with the potential that they have, if they get a good replacement and back him with money then they will be back to seriously challenging for the title.

An honourable chap? This is the guy who claims he never sees any bad tackle or foul play his team ever makes? A guy who never, ever admits his mistakes or his team's culpability for anything? A man who blames officials and opposition players for every negative thing that ever happens to him?

He's one of the least fucking honourable ****s in football.

Jesus wept what is going on in this place - it's like half the members have had a collective lobotomy and just forgotten what a complete **** this guy has been, both to us and in general, over the last 20 years. 5 defeats and half the people in here want to run the fucker a bath and light him some smelly candles to de-stress the poor soppy old tosser.

Fuck's sake.

If ever there was a story that sounded like complete bullshit to placate a team's fans it's this one!

Ive put in bold the key sentence that gives that away, even West Ham wouldn't be that stupid!

Crumbling Arsenal plan massive £200m summer transfer spree and will trust under-fire Arsene Wenger to spend it

Ozil, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Giroud and a raft of squad men could go, topping up the £100m already in the kitty

Arsenal are ready to spend £200million in the next window to fix their squad — and Arsene Wenger will be the man splashing the cash.

Manager Wenger is still expected to be in charge when the summer transfer dealing starts, despite the increasingly bitter fan backlash, as the Gunnersprepare for the biggest revolution of his 21-year reign.

A dismal 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace on Monday put another big dent in the Gunners' Champions League qualification hopes and brought renewed calls for Wenger to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.

But instead he is close to signing up for another two years.

The 67-year-old is already working on his summer plans and could end up cashing in on Mesut Ozil , who has stalled on a £280,000-a-week contract offer, and Jack Wilshere , who is a £20m target for West Ham, while Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are all interested in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

How on earth did they get to that £20m figure?! Oh wait, West Ham you say?

14 - Arsenal are 14 points behind Spurs in the table; the first time they've been 14+ points behind them since May 5th 1963 (also 14). Gap.

Couldn't really give two hoots about ratings normally, but I've been given dohs and wtfs for saying I don't feel sympathy to him or their fans.
The game's gone.

The silly thing is that they don't even have to sack him, his contract is up in the summer so all they need to do is shake hands say thankyou and goodbye and move on.

They've got themselves into a shit situation, the only person (apart from Kronke) who can technically sack himself is Wenger, none of the other guys on the board have that power. Kronke likes Wenger and understands what he's done for Arsenal and appreciates his loyalty so he won't get rid of him. Wenger doesn't want to leave because he thinks he's not done at Arsenal (he is) The players aren't playing for him and clearly want him to leave and all this uncertainty over Wenger's contract is causing uncertainty over their future's as well seeing as there's quite a few of them with a year left on their contracts they don't know whether to re-sign or not and the fans are just utterley pissed off with the each other, the players, the management and the board.

You couldn't make this shit up, it's beautiful :D

There must still be some players that want Wenger to stay surely, he's got half a squad of guys who would never get close to what they're on, and being offered, by arsenal at any other club. He still calls Gibbs a young player ffs the guy is 27, and isn't he offering new contracts to wheelchair and oxlade chamberlain as well? So there's 3 along with Walcott that surely would want him to stay as a new manager worth his salt would bomb them all out of the club sharpish..

It's all really bizarre given how well they've been run for the past 10-15 years - Their first major misstep IMO is this lack of certainty regarding Wenger.

Your post sums it up perfectly - From most perspectives, he looks done. Out of ideas, unable to inspire and get the most of the players there, has been unable to bring on players who joined with big potential and now the team is losing confidence and that consistent mentality which Wenger has been a big part of over the years.

But the board not planning for ending his time there has caused a lot of turmoil. As you noted - loyalty suggests he deserves one more year to either turn things around or set something up and plan for his exit properly. Reality suggests he's not offering anything and it's time for fresh ideas.

Where they go from here could really define what they do for the next decade or so.

None of that, if correct, explains why the players have stopped playing for him, if indeed they have.

The other conundrum for them (poor things) is, if they are really about to splurge £200m in the transfer market this summer, would you want a brand new manager to be in control of that sort of budget straight off, or would you trust it to the man who has brought you unprecedented success?

Yes, they are in a mess of their own making, but they do like to wallow in self-aggrandising and nauseating pity don't they?

I have to say that yeah we can draw parallels with our situation pre Poch when Sherwood was managing us, a lot of what's happening at Arsenal in regards to the disconnect between fans and players and management as well as player's not playing for the shirt we can at least say that we had a man who cared about the club in Daniel Levy and he's always had the club and it's fans best interests at heart.

If Arsenal still had David Dein this wouldn't be happening or if it was it would be sorted pretty quickly but they don't so I think they're pretty fucked for the time being.

Players have been leaving for a number of years, Nasri, Clichy, Sagna, RVP, Fabregas, Etc, Yeah they want for more money elsewhere but I am sure ambition played its part to. Even Fergie in his Bio said he thought AW had lost his hunger.

I didn't link it in here but on Arse-Mania a couple of the posters were debating the 'quality' of the talent at Arsenal and they were more so of the belief that they have been overestimating the players quality and that in the second 11 they lack even more so. Its a full on inquisition among the fans top to bottom about the club.
