Completely agree.

Raiola is a parasite on the once beautiful game.

But there is an upside. If Lukaku is manure's centre forward for the next five years, they'll be less inclined to sniff around Harry Kane. Chavski are obviously still looking for a CF, but I suspect Kane would not go there.

It's against fifa rules for an agent to represent both parties. Hence their investigation into the deal.

I agree that is the worst case where agents are effectively tied up with clubs and using them as a vehicle for players, but I still don't like practice full stop. I can see no reason why agents get paid into the millions of pounds on any deal, what do they do?

Just off the top of my head, without refining the idea(s), I'd say a good starting point would be for FIFA to outright ban agents, so the likes of Mendes and Raiola are blacklisted and any player or club suspected of dealing or making payments to agents get either banned (players) or points deductions/competition bans (clubs). Then I'd have financial advisors, lawyers, marketing/rights guru's etc available via the Player Unions, with the cost met by the clubs - even if they all had to fork out say a couple of million a year for PL clubs that would be a big saving on agents fees.

If I got my wish and top level teams were only able to make one transfer a year (three for promoted clubs) then that would also get rid of some t of the murky dealings...

Where I think there is a huge problem is the massive conflict of interest you get when agents act, represent or profit from more than party in a deal.

Well then cap the 'fee' that an agent can make, say 100k. You cant tell me you are happy for in some cases tens of millions to be going directly out of the game to these people?

Tbf to Woodward he is in charge at a time where Utd are the richest club in the world but no longer dominate domestically meaning the clubs know they are good for the money but they dont have the power to make players strike to force the sale anymore. Tough gig.

Is this fact, because many, many agents seem to be getting paid at both ends of many deals. Whether officially acting as agent of both or not.

Honestly MP, I don't have an issue with agents per se, or money going "out of football" to agents, before agents it was lawyers (now it's both). What I do have a massive issue with is when there is a conflict of interest which could compromise the advice given to the client/player etc.

The fact that these are obscene amounts of money are just indicative of football, which is a whole other issue. As long as the agents aren't breaking any laws or acting immorally etc, then I have no real objection to an agent making money than I do a footballer or a football club or it's owner, directors etc. And I do understand that footballer's, who aren't usually the best educated etc, need some independent representation when negotiating with football clubs with all their financial, legal, marketing and intellectual weight behind them.

I just think the rules governing agents protocol need to be tightened up significantly.

so everton net spend is +4 mill....as many posted they spent the Rom money first....now if they keep buying it probably increases the chances we get Barkley. Wouldn't be surprised to see them give Oliver Drew from the goons for 25 or so and sell Barkley to us for 20-21 or there abouts
