Dele cost £5mil and when we bought him we were not going to be dependant on him if he had needed time. RS will cost 5 times that, and people are suggesting getting him in to replace Rose, meaning one injury to Davies and he is our first choice LB.
Do you not think that it would be worth the risk then? Because imo I can only see us doing business for martial with Man U if they're getting a player they want from us (rose). Sessegnon is the only lb were linked with atm so don't know who else we would get, unless shaw is also somehow in a potential deal.

Rose hasn't played since January and his return still doesn't seem imminent, so aren't we in that situation already (and have been for several months)?

Maybe, but that was not out of choice. This would be.Fact is we buy Sessegnon and keep Rose and when does RS play?
Is there any serious pressure on us in the Champions League though?

We'd like to progress to the knockout rounds and if the ITK is correct we will have a better chance of doing that with an improved squad, but no one expects much from us in that competition.

So, if the scenario you described happened my question would be more about how ready he is for regular EPL matches.

In any case, I think if this happens it'll be for next summer. Keeping Rose one more year.

Which was the original game plan and makes so much more sense.

Total nonsense. People thinking we will sell rose and replace him with a 17 year old who has never played a premier league game and expect him to be ready to play a shed load of games if Davies is injured or out of form.

If we are to sign him surely he would stay at Fulham for at least this season.

Could it be entirely possible that we want Martial and don't intend to sell Rose?? So Sessegnon would be loaned back?

For the record I don't believe either could happen. For example, I have a feeling United are determined to get Bale, that would make Martial disposable as Mourinho has always wanted the ready made thing rather than develop one. Perhaps he doesn't think letting Martial go would be that big a deal - he obviously thinks he has flaws - especially if he were to bring in Bale.

Although I guess we probably wouldn't have the outlay to bring in Sessegnon then...

I'd hate to be Poch in this situation as he really needs to get the balance right.

Yes but the reason RS is the only LB we are being linked with is because we don't actually need a LB as things stand, and he would not be bought for the now..

So any player who breaches discipline is sold? Completely unworkable and unrealistic.
Again I've not said this all I'm saying is until he comes back into contention we don't know if he'll play again. All we can do ATM is go by Pochs past and that tell us anyone who's broke rank ( and not nearly as bad as Rose ) decision is they are soon ejected from the team.

I think we are still on the 5 year plan, which was to enter the new stadium with a title challenging team. Obviously we are slightly ahead of schedule and probably revising plans on the spin.

Bringing in Ses as an understudy to Davies makes good sense, Davies needs to play now and is no pup. Rose to Man Utd with Martial coming the other way fills a lot of holes for us.

If Davies got injured Jan or even KWP could cover there.
I was just thinking this, a few times last season (when playing 343) Jan would get the ball and go on a SuperJan run, and Davies would stay back and cover. Only thing is he isn't the quickest guy around.

What holes would that be?

I think some are getting all caught up in signing the next big thing and they are forgetting about the here and now.

If Poch is still saying KWP is not ready, then no way is Sessegnon.

Well KWP was ready to start the first game of the season.

LwF and back up to Kane
LWF? So what Sonny and Dele presently do? Will he improve on the 40+ goals they scored? And even if so in what world is 40+ goals considered a 'hole'? Backup to Kane I concede. But will that be enough game time to satisfy him and justify the potential outlay?

Poch keeps stating he wants to bring in players to challenge for the starting spots

There is pressure on us not to have our pants pulled down again. And to qualify for the knockout rounds, minimum. After that, no pressure.

That's all good but you didn't address my questions. But I get your point. My issue is that people are getting carried away because we seem to have interest in a 'non-google' player without critically thinking about how his tools would be utilized in the squad. I just would prefer a player that was more flexible and actually address our shortcomings before worrying about an area were we already have competition.

And Poch had far less choice at that point. Thing is even if Davies is first choice, we are still only one injury away from a 17yo with not even one Premier league game under his belt facing the likes of Ronaldo and Messi.

I say this as someone who doesn't want to lose Rose as I think he is excellent and was our best player last season before the injury. So the below is based just on if he were to leave.

But is it not maybe a case Trix, of tying up a contingency plan for the future? Whilst I agree with your point that RS going up against Messi and co can be seen as quite a frightening prospect, maybe if that emergency situation comes to fruition, then Vertonghen can move to left back as in the past? I know we (and he) doesn't want this but it's worst case scenario and it now looks as though we could have cover for him at CB.

This would enable us to get RS in before his price gets too high next summer but would leave no pressure on him to step up in these big games if he is not deemed ready enough.

Not comfortable with Davies being first choice, even less comfortable with a 17 year old being 2nd choice. I know he's a dick but the way Rose is being undervalued is ridiculous. One of the best left backs in the world and the difference in quality from him to Davies is very big (I don't mind Davies as back up). We've already lost Walker, lose Rose too and not replace and you can write off any title aspirations.
