Dele cost £5mil and when we bought him we were not going to be dependant on him if he had needed time. RS will cost 5 times that, and people are suggesting getting him in to replace Rose, meaning one injury to Davies and he is our first choice LB.

Shaw played PL at 17 under Poch. If anything, he looks better developed than Shaw at 17 . Davies would be the first choice anyway.

Well Poch said it was a non issue in the squad, Danny apologised the next day and we've all moved on. To throw out the best player in his position in the league because he gave a silly but ultimately completely inconsequential interview, would be rank terrible management.

If Poch is still saying KWP is not ready, then no way is Sessegnon.

Which also makes me think the notion of wrapping Rose and Martial up in a deal is highly unlikely- we weaken ourselves massively in that part of our game, especially as Sessegnon isn't ready for the jump up in standard just yet

Thing is, though, if Sessegnon has a great season, he'll be out of our reach, because clubs are always looking for good left backs.

I agree that it's unlikely it'd be some sort of swap deal tho.

I think claiming KWP was not ready was a deflection tactic, and no player is really ready until they prove they are. I'd argue Sissoko wasn't/isn't ready!

Bit if a pipe dream, but, if we could swap Rose for Martial and bring in Sessegnon, overall I think we would be stronger.

You make examples of players you can afford to make examples out of. Like ferguson. A player he doesn't want steps out of line and he makes an example of them. Cantona meanwhile can do anything at all and he closes ranks behind him.

If you are so intransigent to just have a hard and fast rule that anyone who speaks out of turn to the press is sold, then the agent of every player who wants a bigger contract and therefore a transfer will just get their player to follow suit.

Having hard and fast rules on which you're immovable is the opposite of good leadership.

Rose hasn't played since January and his return still doesn't seem imminent, so aren't we in that situation already (and have been for several months)?

Maybe but it's not what Poch is about. To quote him "Discipline for me is very important" and like I said until he's back in contention we don't know if he'll play again.

Is there any serious pressure on us in the Champions League though?

We'd like to progress to the knockout rounds and if the ITK is correct we will have a better chance of doing that with an improved squad, but no one expects much from us in that competition.

So, if the scenario you described happened my question would be more about how ready he is for regular EPL matches.

In any case, I think if this happens it'll be for next summer. Keeping Rose one more year.
