It was ever thus. Get down to your local lower division side on a saturday afternoon, far different experience.

Used to follow Scunny all over the north of england with my dad when I was younger. My nearest team is Wimbledon, but prefer popping up to see Brentford every now and again.
My local lower division sides are Norwich and Ipswich. Seems pointless to go and visit them - they don't feel 'low' enough.

I suppose Cambridge isn't far from me.

Chelmsford City and Braintree Town are playing each other home and away on boxing day and new years day, that's old school football local derbies.

My local team (Enfield) is mainly supported by people with banning orders, its bloody terrifying.

I remember back in the late 80's/early 90's there was a fair bit of half and half with either Celtic or Rangers, pretty sure fa cup final scarfs were as well.
It's filtering down to lower league though, geezer playing for Baldock who was their official 'twitterer' or whatever they are called apologised on twitter as he has to go on as a sub. Utter madness.

Noticed them, but didn't really bother me too much. If doesn't directly hurt me if people want to buy them. What I actually thought was cringe worthy were those nasty plastic flags that the club forced upon every single seat. They've probable spent several thousand pounds on rotten plastic that fell apart after the first wave. But it faked an impression of great, great support, I suppose.

None were official though, right? They were from those skanky stands. The club wouldn't do it, at least not in the Prem! The ones I saw all said either TOTTENHA9 vs CHELS (had no idea why that was until I learned the Wembley postcode area is HA9) or TOTTEN17 vs CHELS.

I hate the whole premise, but in this case, apart from both looking shit and my inability to understand (even under copyright rules) why someone can't write 'Tottenham vs Chelsea', totally niggles at a little part of my brain that utterly hates anyone, especially Chelsea fans who refer to them as Chels (not least because I once got taken to a game at Stamford Bridge, had to sit on my hands amongst the home fans and the bloke behind me repeatedly shouted 'Come on Chels' regardless of what was going on on the pitch for the entire 90 minutes).

If spurs were playing Barcelona in the champions league would it be bad to buy one then?

Yeah me and my mates said the same thing. Just weird! Why would anyone want a scarf with another teams name on it!

I thought the flag-waving looked pretty class just before kick off

With all what's going on with with football, half and half scarves are your issue? :bored:

Unfortunately my local team was a horrible scummy bastard team with horrible fans. Couldn't support them for any reason other than proximity.

Reality is that the Premier League is becoming a worldwide phenomenon. There will be a lot of tourists at game and souvenirs like half and half scarves will be bought for Premier League games.

A fan based near their club is likely to only buy half and half scarves for cup games where there is no connection or rivalry with the opposition.

If stadiums like our new stadium becomes the norm I imagine neutral stands will become a bit more standard.

No offence but I find views like this really strange.

Any forum is going to encourage a huge amount of discussion. The function of a forum allows us to get our geek on and discuss all issues regardless of size.

It would be pretty dull and monotone if we all just discussed the same massive issues over and over.

No one is saying half and half scarves are the biggest problem in football but is becoming part of the game and a forum seems the normal place to discuss this.
