If it was simply a £70m package, and it's true we're interested, we should bite their hands off.
Can't help thinking that there's more to it than that though, sounds too good to be true in the current climate.

70m package is deal Yanited would do. If other bids come in that may rise, but doubt it. I have been very well informed by the right people he wants out, and would come to us. However, extremely expensive package. Would need someone to pay 25m for VJ, with a sell on clause.

Closing sentence my opinion based upon what i gathered from snippets. I then put my own understanding on it
Are you also ManU ITK?

Even though Martial is the player I want us to sign the most, I think we should be trying to sign Draxler instead. We can afford his wages (100k euro p week), he's on the transfer list, and would probably cost much less than Martial

I see what you're saying, but IMO Martial is clearly the better option. His wages are lower (~65k compared to ~100k), he better fits the role we're looking for (Winger/Striker hybrid, while Draxler is more of an forward-lying midfielder), and has all the skills/traits we want in that kind of player (pacy direct attacker, as opposed to a playmaker who isn't known for running past people). Also, and a bit arbitrarily, while Draxler is young (23), Martial is younger (21).

I would further argue both ARE on the fringes of their respective squads, despite what has been reported lately: remember, there was ITK saying Woodward is working a deal while Jose talks him up in the press. Lastly, Levy has come right out and said (not more than 2 weeks ago, after Martial speculation started) that there isn't any player we're interested in that we can't afford.

That has to be a clear sign that if we believe he's worth that much, there won't be a problem paying. And while both will cost a pretty penny, it seems to make much more sense for the team if Levy ponies up the extra money for Martial.

My take on it would be, Utd want Rose in exchange, wouldn't put it past them to want Rose plus cash. Martial has two goals in two games, Rose hasn't played for months. And for that reason, we're ruling him out, for now. If Utd, now they have Zlatan back, plus maybe get another LW, become more realistic on price, maybe there's a deal to be done, although we'd need a quality LB in place, hence the ITK about a long shot out there, but multiple deals would need to be done, and we'd have a loss.

I'm convinced UTD are out to make another signing that would further congest their front line - and that this signing would be big!

Thus appeasing the fans if Martial was to be sold.

Maybe the price is known to those who would know such details and that information has been shared with us.

Like by his agent who it would appear has also stated he would be willing to join us.

Or is there another point you are trying to make?

In a world where 27yo Sigurdsson and Walker are going for up to £50m I think £70m for a genuine world class, goal scoring, 21yo forward is about right. Of course it's a ludicrous obscene amount of money but that is what the market currently dictates.

Would love Levy to find the money to make this happen. Could add 20 goals a season for the next 5-8 seasons. And he would definitely add a much needed injection of pace.

Check down the back of the sofa Daniel :)

And he'd be worth every penny. He could take our squad to the next level in my opinion. Couple of years down the line he could be worth well over 100m.

Here is a couple of things to fuel the fire.

This is what Mourinho said last season regarding two other big money signings who had a lot of potential surrounding them.

"I was not even thinking about [selling] Morgan and Memphis,"Mourinho said. "We allowed them to go because the right offer arrived, because in the end Everton and Lyon, they fought for the players and players who are not totally happy here because they don't have the minutes they deserve."

Whilst Martial is better and more important than both of these two, if there is a frosty relationship between manager and player and Martial is demanding more game time, I do believe if we presented the right offer it would certainly get Mourinho's attention. He won't want a sulky player hanging around as much as we think he wouldn't wish to sell to us.

Secondly, I do believe Martial is contracted until 2019, yet there doesn't appear to be any offer for him on the table. If he is a hugely valuable asset why haven't they tied him down for longer? We all know that once players enter the last 18 months it garners lots of attention and speculation (see Ozil, Sanchez). It's also with noting that since he has been there he has seen Lingard sign a contract almost double his own salary, not to mention had Lingered and Rashford been given more game time.

If we were to pull this off I would be mightily impressed and extremely happy. It's a long shot so doubtful but I can certainly see how it could be possible.

Don't bring the stadium into it buddy. Affects nothing. If we raised the money on top of the existing budget, with pending sales which is very substantial. We then can afford these 'smart' desls. Not that I advocate we will pay that, but know the mindset is there for the right player.

Disagree, I strongly believe you get what you pay for. We've bought 2 or 3 players recentlay in that £15m range and they've just not had the quality to improve us. Money wasted. Sissoko at £30m !?! What can you get for that these days?
This guy definitely would make us better. And makes us better from day 1.
Time to join the big boys.

Fully agree. There is a true side to the story about the stadium and the funds.
And then there is not.

If we could get Martial for 70M, and I'm not saying we can but if we could, we shouldn't think twice about it IMO.
