To be fair to them, EFC's strategy would probably have worked a treat to drive up his price IF he hadn't picked up the injury. Changes everything imo. If we're putting a 'reasonable' offer on the table (which may not be the case with Levy!) they'd be mad not to take it rather than losing him on a free in a year. Cash in your chips guys. Please!

Think the interesting bit was 'still hope'.
Maybe Everton aren't budging on their valuation, and neither will we, but as the window close looms closer, Barkley's actual valuation ticks down as his contract situation puts Everton in an awkward position. If they don't sell for £20-25m this window, he'll be worth half that come January. Maybe a game of brinkmanship, will Everton hold out knowing they will ultimately lose even more, or will they just accept the bid and get what they can.

Pochettino will be furious. 3 months messing around.
I knew this would happen. It happens every fucking window

They wanted £50m for a player with 12 months left on their contract. I'm guessing you think we should've paid it then?

We haven't messed around though. Everton quoted £50m for him and we were never going to pay that and then he got injured to further complicate the issue they are being totally unrealistic regarding this transfer.

So it's Everton messing around and not us. :)

If the ITK is accurate and Barkley has his heart set on us they'd be smart to take whatever money we're offering right now. I shudder to think what Levy would do to them in January if that was the case.

Everton will sell him to chelsea before the deadline if we don't bid for him. They've spent loads this summer, theres no way they will want to miss out on the cash.

But ti doesn't sound like we've even made a single bid yet.

I predict he'll join Man City in the summer when his agent gets him a 3 year deal on £200k a week.

he'll then appear in approx 8 league cup games before leaving 2 years later

From what I hear they haven't even contacted him mate. He's set on coming here because he wants to play his way into the England side and thinks this is his best chance of doing so under Poch. If we don't get this done now I see him signing a new contract tbh because it's the only way he gets back into the Everton side. No way will he miss his chance of going to the world cup, none whatsoever.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Weird that after all the smoke we don't get him, i get that he is injured but coming in and getting on board with the club , Poch, the methods etc is priceless.

I understand its a lot of money regardless, but i hope we get it done, wasn't sure about the link at first but as the summer has gone on i realize this kid has great potential.

Fine. It's everton fault
I wonder what excuse we will have it he does sign for chelsea.
Well they already turned down 25 million.

What do you propose Levy should have done or how much we should pay for Barkley?
