Losing Dembele hurts. They are also missing a number of players due to injury - Reus, Bartra - their captain Schmelzer, among others.

They are still a good squad, but I believe Spurs are currently a better squad.

Indeed good as any time to play them but they come with no pressure due to their depletion.

They are also top of their league will press us like Liverpool do it's going to be tricky tonight.

Oh, I am not suggesting it will be a walk. But, at some point, you have to expect to win these matches. The players have to expect to win. (I think that is partly why Llorente was brought in - move us from thinking we are good and hoping for a result, to knowing we are good and expecting a result.)

We have an excellent squad - regardless of who we are facing. Players say they want to win things - now is their chance to show that.

Against Wolfsburg and Freiburg...Two really shitty teams. And Freiburg was down to 10 men for an hour. Don't know about the Herta game.

Really looking forward to this. I hope we get off to a fast start and not let them settle. Their front three are pretty frightening, will be tough to keep a clean sheet. We may need 2 or 3 to win this. COYS

Motivation:

Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says he has "extra motivation" to play against Tottenham in the Champions League on Wednesday after being snubbed by the Premier League side in 2012.

Aubameyang joined Dortmund from St Etienne in 2013, but could have signed for Tottenham under Andre Villas-Boas a year earlier, only for the North London club to opt against a move.

"I was at Tottenham back then, had a tour of the stadium and the training ground. We held talks," Aubameyang told Bild. "But after that nobody contacted me again. That's definitely extra motivation for me on Wednesday."

Excited to see Aurier start but don't understand people who say it's the best available team when Aurier has never played for us.

Someone's probably mentioned it already, but the kids beat Dortmund's kids 4-0 today.

They also had 83% possession the last match. They defend by not defending at all. If you can put pressure on them and keep the ball in their half they have trouble. Saw it plenty last year. All over the place at times.

Guess they think he will be better than Trippier? Nothing too controversial about that, even if you don't see it that way?

EDIT - as an analagous example, plenty of people (myself included) wanted Lloris to go straight into the team and displace Friedel when he signed, and Hugo had never kicked a ball for us before either.

That is some team....not necessarily our absolute best but one that will give anybody a tough match. I'm impressed....defensively we look totally solid and they look vulnerable.
Let's come out of the traps running and not let the pace dwindle...COYS !

We need to win this one to get a start as this is a tough group with only two going through we are expected to finish 3rd. If we win this we could go on a run. I don't expect a lot from us in truth but our luck at wembley has to change so I am hopefull.

Our bench is weak.
Injuries to Rose, Lamela, and Wanyama will do that... not much can be done.

But I expect Llorente to be someone who can contribute to the attack if he is brought in, and I think Sissoko has a role to play if we are chasing a goal.
