Agreed, that would be spectacular. We are currently 2 points up on the same games last season and if we win the next 2 we will pick up 5 more. However we then go into 15 games where we won 13 and drew 2. If we cam emulate that run then we will really be in the running.

We are avg' 2.22PPG that puts on course for 84 at the moment. But as everyone is playing in Europe this season then we may need a smaller points total to win the league this year. High70, low 80. Prob a mid 80

I agree we have the class and style to win it. Do you really not think though the media is corrupt enough to try to use any tactics necessary to ensure one of their beloved Sky 4 wins it? Check out Sunday Supplement or SSN or the Matchday Live programme. They might not succeed, but yes, I do think there is an anti-Spurs agenda, at times not very well hidden at all.

I'll let you into a little secret. Every clubs fans thinks there is a media agenda against them.
Liverpool fans see the media praising utd and think it's an agenda. Utd fans see the media praising city and think it's an agenda. All northern fans see the press writing about southern clubs and think it's an agenda.
At the end of the day the media's job is to make stories that make money. They will dramatise everything. £££ is their agenda not who wins the fucking premier league.

Think it's way premature to start plotting and inventing reasons for the demise of City. For now, we should just accept that they are playing superbly well, and wait out our own match away to United. A convincing win vs. United, and I think it will be more reasonable to actually start talking about likelihood of the league title. That being said, we are playing crazy well these days, and we have never before played more like a team of upcoming champions.

I'd even be happy with a fluky 1-0 away win.

Gameweek 11 seems to be the week we have lost most games over the years. Let's hope we make UTD pay this coming gameweek.

The media was creaming themselves over City this time last year too. It wasn’t until we shattered that illusion and broke their unbeaten record that they fell apart.

Form is a fickle mistress.

trouble is we don't play them till mid December and it's at their place.

last season they were winning games but were conceding and not totally blowing teams away. this season they have had 2 tricky games, but haven't looked like losing. we beat them in the 7th match, so far they have only dropped 2pts at home to Everton when down to 10 men, but looked the only team that was going to win the match even though Everton were 1-0 up.

they have 3 more to play that were top 6 last season, and they are all home games this year, next half of the season, they only have 1 tough month on paper. we will have to hope that burn out, suspensions and a few key injuries, but even those only ever really effect Kompany. Aguero has a terrible accident (glad he never had a serious injury) was reported to be out at 1st for 4-8 weeks, and was back 2 weeks later (Leicester injuries repair squad must be helping them:whistle:).

All we can do is keep going, 29 matches to go, and we just have to keep winning whether it's 1-0 or 10-0(y)

RAWK levels.

No, not at all. Once it dawned on the football world that Leicester weren't going away any time soon, the initial whispers about the "fairytale" rose to a crescendo. You couldn't open a paper, go on the net, watch tv or turn on the radio without stories about the wonderful tale of the plucky minnows. And every non-Spurs man and his dog jumped on that bandwagon. Poch himself said that the players didn't have the mental strength at that time to cope with that being rammed down their throats day in day out. If people with power have an agenda, they will do their damnedest to try and bring that agenda to fruitition.

So Sky, BT, the illuminati and the saucer people were so determined to ensure that a club outside of the so called “sky 4” didn’t win anything, that they fixed it so that Leicester won something...

Even if they rearranged the fixtures so we're always playing catch up as with Leicester or Chelsea? Just to heap more pressure on us. That might not make us crack, but it would certainly be an added burden to carry.

last season our fixtures were pretty fairly split with Chelscum, the season before having 3 Monday nights on the trot was way OTT, but might of been different had we beat Wet Spam and Arscum

After 9 games last season we had 19 points and sat 5th.
We're only 1 better off but higher in the league. City were only 1 point above us in 1st though.

Fast forward 4 games and we only took 4 points from 12.
Real progress would be taking closer to 12 than 4 from our next 4 games. I think we will as Harry and Toby seem fighting fit.

Although it's obviously important (for confidence, if nothing else) to get points on the board early, it's more important to look at which teams the points are won from, and where (home/away).

Yes, we've had an excellent start, but home draws against Burnley and Swansea are very poor results, and those four dropped points could be the difference between the title or second place.

Similarly results against direct rivals should be considered - not only did we drop a point against Chelsea (when we should have held on for a draw), we also handed them two points in their race against us.

TV pundits tend to go on about how "crucial" any points are towards the end of the season, when in reality any points at any stage of the season are just as crucial.

Time to be optimistic. While I'm frustrated at the lack of progress on transfers I'm hopeful that by the end of the window we will have a quality replacement for Walker, Barkley and hopefully a wing forward like Keita Balde. If we managed that and the other teams don't add much else I'd be quietly confident about challenging again, with Wembley of course being the wild card.

Once again I think the so called experts / pundits confuse money spent, not even net spend, with automatic improvement in results. I'm not that convinced by the transfer activity at our competitors so far. I also don't think they account for the abilities of the manager. I think we have the best manager with the least ego who can both improve individuals and make the sum greater than the parts. Last year his challenge was to figure out tactically how to defeat teams who defended deep and he did this by moving to a very fluid formation that interchanged seamlessly between 3 and 4 at the back. This year he needs to figure out how to overcome the high press employed by Klopp and Guardiola, I have no doubt he will do this.

Chelsea - have replaced Zouma with Ruddiger, might be an upgrade but unclear, replaced Matic with Bakoyoko, unclear this is much of an upgrade, and Costa with Morata, I actually think this is a backward step as Costa has been so important to Chelsea. However, I very much doubt they are done and if they add then I expect them to be the main challengers for the title.

City - can't argue with the quality of their acquisitions but they still have a weak spine, particularly if Kompany gets injured. Their problem last year was defending and while they have improved their FBs I still think they will be suspect defensively.

Liverpool - I don't get their business, they so need a GK, at least one CB and a quality LB and all they've done is sign an average LB and yet another speedy winger. I think their season will be very similar to last year, they will look exhilarating at times but ultimately be undone by their defence and CMs.

Goons - no doubt Lacazette is quality but the Sanchez saga will hang over them, if he goes it hurts them badly and if he stays it will be talked about all season. Like Liverpool their weaknesses in central defence and midfield haven't been addressed, the final aspect is the poisonous fan split on Wenger, a few bad results and that will rear its head. Famous last words but I don't see them getting back in the top 4.

United - totally over hyped in my opinion. Replaced Ibra with Lukaku which I don't see as an upgrade, bought a fairly average CH in Lindeloff and added another water carrier in Matic. Their issue last year was turning draws into wins at home and they haven't done anything yet to address this.

Everton - spent a lot of money to buy over half a new team, very rarely does this work out. Add to this that they've sold their top scorer and are definitely losing their top creator and again I'm sceptical Koeman can move them forward as much as the media think.

So come on Mr Levy get us the final pieces to our squad jigsaw and let's complete the series:
2015/16 3rd
2016/17 2nd
2017/18 1st

COYS !!!

Just thought it was worth reposting the original post in this thread - considering it was written a week before the start of the season it has a pretty impressive amount of accuracy in its predictions/analysis (so far, at least).

Nice work am_yisrael_chai!

A fit Kane for the whole season would surely see us yield more points. We are undoubtedly a better team/squad this season.Based on below.
Negatives:walker leaving
Wanyama injury
Dembele dodgy fitness
Wembley?

Positives:
Sanchez massive upgrade
Rose returning
Winks emergence
Davies progression
Kane another level
Lamela returning Hopefully
Llorente upgrade
General progression of most players Eriksen Son etc
Poch more tactical awarness

There are far more positives than negatives which hopefully should mean a greater points tally. In reality the title will most likely be won in the top 6 encounters.Poch seems to have found a system to play the top sides, which could be crucial.

Leicester was a one off. Most years that isn't an option. Last year it was Chelsea reclaiming their throne after the turmoil of the previous year. This year the other money club are the darlings. We will have to disagree on this but I'm glad you made a reply instead of just throwing d'oh ratings my way!

City are flying at the moment but it's impossible to keep that form going over a full season. We've just got to try and keep within 6 points of them and beat them when we go there. Same tactics as Madrid could do the job. We've always got a chance with Kane .
