Man Utd vs Tottenham: Match Thread

Probably thinking of what he'll say to Mourinho after the game. I think you're being unfair on Dier. And just to put you in the picture, I do not particularly like him.
Not really being unfair. Honestly, do you really rate Dier above any of those 4 players?

Positive against Liverpool, set up for a draw against Manure... senseless

I don't think we set up for a draw. That was just a very hard fought game, this is a very decent Manu managed by Mourinho, fired up after losing last week, right at it against a big rival, we are not going to be given time and space to fuck around. That game could have gone either way and an odd mistake or moment of quality would win it.

It's games like that where you can see why we don't win trophies. When it comes to the crunch the players don't really believe
It's very difficult for a club to find that belief when you've done so little for so long while the expectations are so high. It's the problem Newcastle and Everton have too. We're not going to improve in these big games until we manage to win a trophy to snap us out of the loser mentality.

Gutted, bollox, sick to me pit - pissed off and disappointed. We've been Jose'd. I'm afraid.

Look, in massive games like this you do need your massive players and a formation/system that those who come in and deputise are familiar with. Of course we missed Harry Kane - who wouldn't? But that doesn't make us a "Harry Kane " team. As last season proved in his absence.

It was Man Utd away. It was pretty Even Stevens and had Zero-Zero written all over it until that defensive lapse.
Until then Toby & Jan were immense.

5 minutes before then - Winks and the majority of our players looked visably very tired. When they went one-down they actually picked up some energy to try for the equaliser. There is no skill picking on individual players like Dier or Llorente as a reason for us losing.

Imagine if they were minus Lukaku - it would disjoint their "known" forward play. Upfront we just can't have/don't have the fluidity we normally have and see week in week out when you have the same personnel up there. Sissoko up front? I didn't get that - we were short of options. Eriksen only started to play well when he was moved to his favoured position.

One of those games I'm afraid and horribly the timing meant it was against Utd. A tough pill to swallow - but swallow we must. Barf.

COYS!

Complete rubbish. We played a poor game with the wrong game plan. Previous seasons Harry has been out for long periods and we have scored and played well without him.

Previous seasons yes, but this season we look like we are really relying on him sadly.

Disappointed with the result but honestly not suprised. Mour. results based football, what do people expect from United?

Two shite results on the bounce with Madrid at Wemb. this Wednesday. Time to put in a shift.

A draw would have been a fair result. We were far from our best but they were so negative. How many times did they go route one ffs. If our manager played like that I’d be furious. Let’s hope Kane is back for Wednesday as we are toothless without him atm.

A very fair assessment.

Whilst we might perform fantastically in games like the one against Madrid, I seriously doubt our ability to win a trophy when we have games like today, when it comes to 6 pointers like this, games where it can really make a difference we always seem to lose the plot in the PL.

We need to stop being the team that is always chasing and start being the team that is leading, this is our issue, for all the talk of how great we are, not once over the last two seasons have we occupied top spot in this league, our away record against the big 6 reads like a team from mid-table, not one that has finished 3rd and 2nd the last few seasons.

To get anything out of Llorente we need to change our style of play, I didn't understand his signing in the first place, not a bad player but just doesn't fit the way we play I'm afraid.

Problem is a lot like the poor period we had last year. We simply can't afford to have all our attacking players off form. Eriksen and Alli especially have struggled for form this year. Kane hasn't and he's been the one dragging us through. We're not a 1 man team. But we could do with a bit of luck with players coming in and out of form at the right time.

Just rewatched the last 90 seconds. Ball went out for Ashley Youngs sub at 91:30. Ball goes live again at 92:02 and then goes dead for the goal kick at 92:15. The ball then goes live again at 92.55 and then the ref blows on 93:01.

What is the fucking point of adding on time at all? Bloody joke and the worst thing is no-one cares so it keeps happening.

If you talk about it then you are immediately labelled a conspiracist, the refs in this league are either shit or corrupt, my money is on the former but the latter wouldn't surprise me either.

Lack of fluency in midfield. Same disjointed shit that we saw against West Ham.

And Aurier? Fuck me, he needs to buck his ideas up.
