A few freak results in the CL and a 4-1 win against Liverpool has masked a very indifferent season. We don't look like ourselves and I can only put it down to Wembley. I think Wanyama is a huge miss but his absence shouldn't hurt us as much as it is.

Overall I agree but very harsh to call our CL performances 'freak results'.

As each poor League result passes, our focus will become more and more on the knockout stages in the CL.

Still need to consolidate a top 4 berth but much like last year, we seemingly can't get the right balance between midweek European games in Autumn to League performances on the weekend.

It's a trend and one Poch seemingly still can't get right.

Really self entitlement to think Citeh is our only rivals to the title, if any it is still on. At our current league form, a Citeh implosion will still have some shitty luck stuck to the chelscums' or united's boots that will carry them over to the title instead of us.

Well, plenty here think 4th is our real race now so that would mean we see 3 sides as finishing above us.

City get mentioned because they are pissing it at the moment and don’t really have a title rival as such. They could end up 25 points ahead of us come May

Lack of options, attacking wise, in the squad is the issue.

Our attacking options when compared to others in the so called big 6 are not great. We’ve got Dele, Eriksen, Son and Kane.
Chelsea have Hazard, Morata, Willian, Batshuayi, Pedro.
Liverpool have Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge, Lallana, Salah and Mane
United have Pogba, Ibrihimovic, Lukaku, Mikkkkkkhatryian, Mata
City are ridiculous, Aguero, KDB, Silva, Silva, Sane, Jesus, Sterling
Even Arsenal, the worst of the bunch have more options in total than us.

The drop off below our 4 top attackers to the next is massive. GKN, Llorente and Sissoko are mid table options, and in GKN’s case I mean mid table championship options!

Why do we struggle to identify attacking players? Poch doesn’t have a great record at our place when buying anyone who plays further forward than central midfield.

Starting to think its Europe what is killing our hopes of trophies.
We aint winning CL and we don't look like we want to win EL when we are in it, so actually lets take 7th this year and no Europe next year and try and win something in our first year in the new stadium ( I hope to god its ready as cant cope with Wembley again, just hope we don't have this issue on our new pitch)

But, this thread needs changing race for top 6. Unfortunately I think 4th is out the question too - Pool may fuck up at times but they have a much better front line and back up and will spend in Jan whereas we will stand still ofcourse.

Couldn't give a fuck who finishes higher out of arsenal and us, just want this season over now and hope we get 4th but think its more realistic to get 5th or even 6th

Genuinely starting to think we should just put everything into the CL in the 2nd half of the season.

Which makes Lamela's return to fitness all the more important you feel.

I still believe in games like this where you will be the dominant side in possession and requiring a bit of individual brilliance to unlock a defence or go past a player or two then Edwards surely represents a role on the bench.

Maybe. I’m not expecting much from Lamela this season, if ever. He’s been out a long time and seemingly his biggest issue regarding any return is his mental state. Shame, but anything from him from now on is a huge bonus to me.

Edwards? Big ask. The hype around him is silly from what I’ve seen. I’m not sure we are in a position to start trying anything and everything. Our issues can easily be resolved if we just buy another attacking player or two. It’s making sure we get the right type of player though. Poch has struggled with that so far

We are going to get smashed once we play a side who isn't going through some sort of crisis.
I doubt that given how defensive we play against the top European sides - and it's worked so far. And I find it a bit ridiculous that you think us getting 10/12 points against Madrid and Dortmund was down to them being in a crisis. If anything Madrid hadn't actually entered a crisis until we beat them.

He quite clearly shouldn't be lauded as a saviour (Edwards) but in certain games I think he represents a type of player we don't have in the first team and some unpredictability to the table which could be the difference in 1 point or 3 taken.

Also, don't forget how prominent our wing backs are. If Rose was deemed fit enough to be on the bench then you'd have felt he'd have come on for Davies at some stage second half.

Wanyama is such a miss.

Really could do with him in our engine room.
