According to the Guardian:

"After the £105m basic, an additional £17m would be payable for the first 100 games Coutinho plays for Barcelona, £4.4m per 25 games. A further £4.4m would be paid for Champions League qualification in the first two seasons with a £4.4m bonus for winning the competition. Coutinho has agreed a five-and-a-half-year deal worth £12.1m a season."

Coutinho transfer is interesting....he is, objectively, their best player and yet they are selling him at a time when they are in 4th.
Yes, they have good talent at the club but their attack has just lost a lot of quality and depth. Also interesting to note they are losing Can to Juvent

Usual Kia Joorabchien pulling strings nonsense...

It's not that, I just don't get why so many people seem eager to blindly believe something just because a load of people they don't know repeat it. It was one place, BEIN sports that had this rumour and just because loads of strangers repeated it, people flock to believe it. It's like religion, Twitter makes no sense to me.

Stupid money for a good, but not great footballer.

Liverpool must be pissing themselves.

I think if coutinho had the consistency of Eriksen then coutinho would walk into our team. When on fire he is exactly what we need to pick apart defences that sit back

Imagine having £142m to spend on a player and you decide to spend it all on Coutinho.

In all honesty, English clubs can hold European clubs to ransom now with the TV money we get. Premier league clubs only have to sell when they need to or when they want to

Is Eriksen really that consistent? I’m not quite so sure. Their stats often match up, with Eriksen getting more assists and Coutinho more goals. Coutinho is a fantastic player and would certainly get it out squad.

I think Eriksen is more consistent. He is airways linking up play and always showing. Even when he has a bad game he still asking for it and connecting play. I think coutinho drifts out of games way more.

I think he would walk into our team. Doesn’t make him worth what Barca paid for him though.

Personally think Coutinho is mad to move himself at this stage of the season. He can't play Champions league football for Barca. If they win the CL or even if Liverpool do the unimaginable and go all the way he will have missed out on a medal. Sure he'll get the La Liga medal but it's a bit odd to miss CL football for the rest of the season.

I doubt he gives a shit. He'll get a load of medals at Barca.

Clubs like Barca are not looking for value. They identify a target and ensure they get him.

Be that as it may, I think we can still talk about ‘value’ in relation to the prices commanded by similar players, even if Barca themselves may not be interested in those arguments (this is the club who recently spent £40 mill on Paulinho, after all).

What are Liverpool’s chance she if winning the UCL? He’s given that up for the near guarantee of winnng trophies.

Additionally if this was agreed last summer with a gentleman’s agreement, he won’t have thought about medal opportunities in jan.
