This game is an great example of what is missing in the make up of the modern Premier League player. It is an insight in to why some young PL pros struggle when let go by their clubs. They cannot play in poor conditions, on poor surfaces, in cramped stadiums while getting kicks and harried.

It also shows the importance of sending young players, Edwards for example, out on loan to lower league clubs. It shows what is missing with the elimination of leagues like the old Combination and Central up north.

You learned a lot as a player playing in those leagues and you learned a lot as a coach/scout/manager observing young pros in the games.

Foyth and Dier as the two CBs is a bit of a gamble.

Typical big club, come down to the leagues and are surprised to find a choppy rugby pitch and a team of players who are actually quite handy and will fight for their teammates, and don't know how to respond.

This reminds me of a few years ago when my Saturday team were in the bottom league and there was a cup for all the teams in the county, our pitch didn't have any changing rooms, was on a massive down hill slope and there was dog shit all over the field (not just the players mind).

Teams came from the top leagues dressed in full track suits and pitches with good facilities and just couldn't handle it.

We got to the final that year

We are really struggling with the conditions. Very poor start getting outmuscled in the air and on the deck.

We took some measure of control in the middle part of the half when Sissoko took over and got us further up the pitch - which was handy because our back 5 and Dembele and Wanyama haven't been able to beat an opponent all night. Sissoko by a mile our best player and only one looking to take the fight to Newport - yet the usual numpties say the usual numpty things.

We look awful when we play a rightfooted left back.

Kane and Llorente don't work - might do if we ever got crosses into the box but KWP can't/won't cross and Tripps hasn't even got the ball in space once.

Newport look great.

We seem not to be together today, when Kane gets the ball four of their players go for him and none of ours move towards him if at all, the pitch is not what they are used to but our players need to come to terms with it by making sure we have a near option. When we did that we had our best spell.
Kyle WP near the end there had the ball edge of their box left hand side, three of them closed him down so he had to turn back and fortunately won a foul, no doubt some people thought he wasted a chance but not one of our players came within twenty yards of him so what could he do?
Maybe we'll play better balls forward in the second half that the wind will hang up for us, I don't know but we need to sort ourselves out.

At least a couple of people have been watching and analysing, instead of raging and ranting.

I was going to post something, but these two have already written what I would have said.

I actually feel sorry for KWPs, he was poor but playing on the wrong side. He really needs a chance on the right.
