Leeds players out worked and out run our lot is the main reason we lost, the players couldn’t match the opposition’s desire and effort which is a common theme for us under 3 different managers now. They don’t need guidance from experience managers they need to fuck off.

This. We need a manager to come in a put faith in our younger/youth players and sack off a high percentage of our current 1st teamers.
To play in the premiership you need work rate, desire and effort before anything else. I can name 5/6 players who consistently play who don’t have this

well then you are a moron.
Indeed I am. Is everything alright? One of the best strikers in the world being confined to playing in a team which is regressing and showing no ambition is a mismatch. If he wants to stay fair play, but a man of his talents deserves to be playing on the highest of stages.

I didn't see the game so i'm going purely from some of the comments on here regarding the players attitude; if they won't give a 100 percent for the manager who's a good friend and former team mate of many of them; who you'd at least think they'd like to do well for, what bloody chance did José or does any potential new manager stand?

VAR sapping the joy and soul out of the game is one thing and sadly not something that's going to change before the end of the season but to not want to do the basics for your mate is just shit all round.

It's been 2 seasons - 2 seasons of two managers getting sacked, 3 managers who have managed the team and have all implemented a different play style to one another, 2 seasons in a rebuild process and transition - all I'm saying is that we need to be fair in our expectations.

Man City gave Sterling 2 seasons before he started to come good by the way...
And he is still a poor footballer. Very quick though.

I find this amazing. How can we not be altra fit - that should be the minimum any manager ensures his team is.

It definitely should be the case but I have a theory that high press teams players are burnt out if they play that way for 4/5 years. Pochettino’s players are all feeling the burn out as are kloops Liverpool players now and his Dortmund players in the past.
We still have a fair few players from the Pochettino early stages snd these players are completely burnt out imo

Agree about fitness levels, when manager doesn't trust in sports science and rushes players back from injuries it makes it even worse, combine it with crazy schedule and battling in multiple competitions and you get a squad that can't sprint (or even just run properly) after 60th minute late into the season. Important to get new coach early and start with proper training sessions asap, hopefully Mason is already doing some of it.

Or it could be that we need to refresh the players too. Fergie said that a team only lasts 5 seasons and maybe he was right. At the moment we seem more disjointed than anything. Also if you don’t really believe you deserve something, and we have been terrible all season, maybe the players aren’t really up for it. I am sure Kane is looking forward to playing in the Euros more than getting us a possible 4th.

Sure he's looking forward to playing for City.

Do you consider the last two seasons to be a rebuild and transition process? Without the structure you mentioned in posts prior to this, I can't see how the two years can be characterised that way. There are new players in, and some out, but it's all pretty random stuff.

I think asking any manager to make progress with this shitshow is a big ask. We're softer and more directionless than at any point since before Redknapp, let alone Poch. The rebuild hasn't even started.

This is the 'painful rebuild' process

That's pretty optimistic. This is painful alright, but there isn't a rebuild under way as yet. We fucked away a couple of seasons. In fact, we still seem to be crumbling and may lose one or both key pillars we have. The bottom might still be some way off.
