I get all this but what I was frustrated about is something far more fundamental. Lunging and/or two footed sliding tackles inside the penalty area, he committed exactly the same mistake against Madrid and it led to a penalty. Unless it's perfectly timed and all the stars need to align, it will nearly always lead to a penalty or it will at any rate at least 75-95% of the time. My problem is why he doesn't seem to get this, he must know these aren't good odds, and if he doesn't then there is something seriously wrong with him. Alternatively if he does get this and he know these aren't good odds then why is he taking these risks in that part of a football field ?As others before have said: look at Danny Rose first few seasons with us (and at the start under Poch), diving in, giving away needless free-kicks, losing the ball in our own third. He needed time, he got it; look how good he’s been for us past three seasons.
It’s the same with Aurier... will need a season or so to adapt, plus he was in and out of the PSG team so needs a good run of games.
I also think he can be guilty of trying too hard, by which I mean: he’s desperate to keep his spot and make an impact so he tries to make impossible tackles in order to do something extraordinary.
Give him time, he’ll be a very important player for us!
