More likely to see Chelsea loanee Kenedy score the winner than that scoreline on current form. Can't see us winning any of our remaining games the way we are playing and against 2 of our bogey sides.
Oh no. Hadn’t thought of that. My Chelski mates would be even more unbearable.

It is clear, if we win these last 2 games or get the 4 points and finish top 4, I will be absolutely delighted and there will be a number of us who deserve criticism for being too anxious (me included)

What I would like to know, is these people who are not worried, what will happen to them if we don't make it?

The amount of Spam I got after the Man City game about risk to top 4 and its not done yet, but look at the position we got ourselves into.

I hope we win our last 2 games and get 3rd, would love nothing more but those under estimating these matches need a wake up call, both these sides have had our number over the last few years, we need the lads to be on it from the first minute, start with a win on Wed and then worry about sunday

COYS - we can 100% do this but we need the players to show the same passion as some of us fans arguing with each other these last few days, all because we care, do the players care enough - we will know this time next week.

A decent leader in the team with a track-record of winning would have helped

Someone who would pull players up for poor attitude off the pitch and inspire players on the pitch

Essentially, someone that keeps our squad professional and focused

Cough, Hugo...he’s captain innit

Well I've decided to let all the realists have their six to nine months or more and if/when we do good things, I'll come back and do some dick jousting to say 'I told you so'

That's how it works right?

Boethius was right all along.

The Man City result went against us too didn’t it. They’re probably safe now. We could have done with them getting that draw against Chelsea midweek rather than Sunday.
Huddersfield will know what they need on wed after the Swansea saints game. They could still go because of their goal difference. A point at Chelsea might just do it for them

We'll still finish third.
If the team play's to its potential then I think we finish third perhaps even increasing the goals for column, but a lot of people are worried because we can equally finish fifth don'tyou just love the game of football.

We need every single fan at the stadium on Wednesday and Sunday to create an intimidating wall of noise in support of the team. Never mind being the 12th man, we want a 13th and 14th man as well. We can do this but we have to get behind the team with huge vocal support.

What we must do is ignore everything else and just concentrate on beating Newcastle. we do that and we go into the last game with only a defeat meaning we miss out.....surely not .

Ha you're not going to get that, it will be a nervy tense atmosphere like it always is when we're on the verge of shitting ourselves, it's like our fans expect we're gonna fuck things up rather than expect to win, it's definitely something to do with the past.

This is where the weak 'mentality' that everyone talks about comes from. Its not the players who all go on to win stuff when they move on. Its the fans, we are the only constant and the second things dont go our way we shit ourselves.

To an extent, but how does that extend to us bottling games away from home then when we have one of the best away followings in the league? If the players play with urgency on weds I'm sure the crowd will respond.

As I said back in April:

“WBA are unbeaten in their last 3, including victory over Utd at Old Trafford and drawing with Liverpool. We’ve drawn 4 of our last 5 league games against them, and not won at the Hawthorns in 3 years. This is our hardest game left.”

And this:

“St Totteringhams Day? It would be deliciously small time to Lord it over Arsenal then not qualify for champions league.”

A lot of people were taking this game way too lightly and I couldn’t understand why. There’s quite nothing like Spurs fans and hubris, refusing to accept things we do time and again.

As for those saying it’s still a foregone conclusion as both remaining games are at ‘home’, again I refer you back to April:

“We’ve won one of our last 5 games against Leicester, have already lost to them this season and haven’t beaten them at home for 3 years. We’ve lost 3 of our last 5 games against Newcastle, 2 of them at home (including last season).”
Sadly it was Poch and his team who took the WBA game too lightly. I fear they will do the same against Newcastle and Leicester. What gets me is their total lack of pride. They seem unbothered about Chelsea making them look fools again. What is it like when International squads convene? I would imagine the Chelsea players give our players a huge amount of stick. I can only presume this doesn’t bother them.

Whilst you have fans who shit themselves and post OTT bollocks at the first sign of weakness, equally there are those who try far too hard to be a better supporter than the rest and bury their heads in the sand as to any issues and then if things don't turn out so well just ignore it - for instance it was only a few days ago that a few on here were confidently stating that all was fine and there was no way we could lose to West Brom......

Personally I think it is on a knife edge, going on the evidence of what we have seen in the last half a dozen games. We are more than capable of securing the couple of results that we need to get over the line, the balance of probability may even still be in our favour, but the evidence and certain things don't look good. We're currently in no form whatsoever, even recent wins (Stoke, Watford) have been really unconvincing, and have no momentum. The intensity to our play has gone, and several players give the impression with their play of being knackered. Maybe, hopefully, they can find one last big effort to finish the season strongly and reach our goals, but we've all been waiting for that for about four games now and it hasn't happened so I can understand why some might be really concerned at this point. Once that intensity has been lost, it's hard to flick it back on like a switch.

I could give plenty of reasons as to why I disagree but as the current train of thought is on the negative would there be any point otherwise?

I'll try two but as I said, seems pointless anyway -

Have you seen the form of those teams we're about to play, it's possibly worse than ours and who has more 'world class' players in their ranks?

I try to look at things logically, and would prefer to see how it turns out. If at the end of it we lose both games, finish out of the top four then that would be the time to be constructively critical about it. Just my onion.

For one we agree, I look logically at the form of the teams we are playing and it gives me some comfort. But I guess having been in the slightly similar position before when ARSEnal finishes above us when all logic told you there was no way they would.
I guess this sums it up for me. A Gooner “acquaintance” of mine, won’t say friend! Set me an audio message on social the other day, and it sang two songs! “10 points and you fucked it up” and “ you did it again, you did it again, Tottenham Hotspur you did it again”
Just Fucking hate it. Spurs players please buck up your ideas and don’t do this to your fans again!
This is the worst season for Arsenal but if we blow this, I won’t even get to send my own audio texts to that fucking Gooner!
Quite the opposite for me. Sounds weird but i'd be more inclined to want Poch to stay if we mess up top 4.

a. because players will inevitably leave and a rebuilding job will be required. I think more of our academy players will get opportunities and we will see a new team. I think Poch is a really good squad builder and he will be the right man to lead that.

b. who could we realistically get as manager if we don't have EL football to offer? Certainly no one better than Poch.
Great so he is good at building academy team boys up but not good at getting good at winning and motivating first team players. For the first time since he has come in I am starting to wonder if he can get us to the next level!
Don’t get me wrong he has done a great job of turning us into a “ better side” but we want now to be a regular champions league team and challenge for the title year after year, is he that? This end of the season debacle seems to suggest not.
