This isn't a dig at those who want Bale to come back, nor does it imply that I don't want to see him play for us again but lets say our targeted net spend is £150m (the outgoings after all player trading is completed) as ITK has intimated. How much do people actually advocate Spurs offering for Bale?

Also, with Spurs having first refusal on Bale would those who want to sign him prefer to wait for someone (like Bayern) to make an offer before we got involved or would you like to just lump on now and accept having the Premier League tax priced into the deal?

I know it probably doesn't work like this but I guess in my head this could be raised by the outgoings if we could find takers for Sissoko, Jansen, Dembele funds likely incoming etc & maybe even sacraficing trippier (promote KWP) & lamela to bring in 1 world class player.
Leaving the bulk of the original budget for priority areas.

A few months ago with the injuries, age and being out of the team £40-50 mil seemed reasonable, those blistering goals against Celta Vego though may have wrecked havock with any asking price/desirability for other teams.

Second part, go in hard now, make him feel wanted.

Maybe we could set up a partnership with real with Bale coming to us as part of that, we could then unsettle a few of their other players before signing them while in the partnership also.... :cautious::cautious::barefoot:

So basically, lump on £50-60 million now?

What I'm trying to get across here is that the price Real would accept from a Premier League team for one of their players is a lot higher than it would be from a German or Italian team. Normally the Premier League team would need to throw down vast sums of money in a front loaded deal but in this case, we hold all the cards. With a first refusal in place we have the option to wait for Real to accept an offer from anybody and all we need do is match the bid.

If you look back to last summer and James
Rodriguez eventual move to Bayern, Man United would have needed to stump up a reported €60 million but Bayern's structured deal (2 year loan at €5 million per + €35 million deal to make it permanent) is €15 million cheaper than United would have had to pay.

It's possible Real could subsides his wages if they really wanted him to go and he only wanted to come to us. This happens alot eg Adebayor 50% paid by City for a season I think.
it seems apparent that Madrid want him out so they can bring in a new superstar, either hazard or maybe Neymar
Think the fee would be about 60m, and Madrid would have to pay him a fair bit of contract to leave
I dont think Man U would go for him after buying Sanchez for zillions per week, i think Citeh could be the ones

IF Real Madrid want Bale out, then we will be in the mix, if only because of the contract clause. Doesn't mean he wants, or will come of course and I could see Bayern being interested (though perhaps not at the asking price), but I do think there is the possibility that Bale might only want to return to the EPL and he may only want/prefer us.

So yeah, slim to little chance, but meh, who knows!?!

I don't think affording Bale is the issue, really.

We could easily ship out 4-5 surplus players that would basically free up/cover his wage.

Put it like this: I'd quite happily sell
Sissoko
Rose
Toby
Llorente
Nkoudou
Janssen

In exchange for Bale.

Then I'd use the 150m or whatever to buy a CM, LWB and CB.

Promote a smattering of youth to supplement the bench every now and again.

I don't really know why that sounds so implausible.

Then there’s the fallout of paying Bale so much when our top earners want a bump in their wages. I say bump, it’d be truckloads of cash.

Yeah, there's that, but if I was playing for Spurs now, I'd not begrudge Bale coming in on the biggest wages and simultaneously think I deserved to be paid the same as him. He'd be a huge motivator/inspiration to a lot of our team imo.
If they want to reach his level and earn what he does, then they have to earn it.

A lot wouldn’t want his level, but with the bar being raised they’d want a new level. It’s been the natural reaction of footballers since Jimmy Hill did his bit for them.

Do anyone really believe Bale expect Real Madrid wages if he joins us? Clearly he value what he believe to be a happy environment for him and his family over some added cash by coming home. The man already filthy rich and *might* just value other things in life than just money.

Having said that, if he joins us, im sure he will be payed a decent salary

Kane would want parity for one.

There are places he could get it, maybe even better it. It’s romantic that he’d come back to Spurs at a Levy-acceptable pay level but it’s not realistic in my opinion.

I agree. Thats why im saying if he were to come here it wont be due to us matching his Madrid wages and mean he find value in other stuff.

Probably going for the money and status at psg or united or a club like that

OK not commented in years but here goes.

I always thought Bale would come back, he said he would like to come back at some point (just player talk I know)

Money for him is not everything. His wages now are massively inflated by reals shares of his image rights that they give him a percentage of. They have done this for ages with their huge signings. If he came to us (or ANYONE in PL) he would have his entire image rights. If he were greedy he could get £250-£300k per week from one of the big boys and lump his image rights on top. If he is as a lot of us think he is and wants a good environment for his family then we could easily come up with a deal with a good bonus structure that he could agree to I am 100% certain of that.

Now its all down to IF he wants to come back to us in reality.

forget transfer fee, Real's treatment of him has impacted on this. they paid £87million approx. for him. Now about £55-£60million value I estimate with Levy in charge. Real paid us in FOUR installments over just over 3 years.

IF Bale is interested in coming back to us I don't think coming up with a weekly deal that suit him will be an issue. Mainly as he would want to come back.

Anyone here not thinking that we can afford 4 x £15 million payments over three years?

I don't expect him to come at all to be honest, but if there is a chance we have to do it. Regardless of if he is still the player who destroyed the Italians in the CL he WOULD improve us and it is 100% the type of signing that we need to make to show intent.

New stadium and another world class player to the ranks?
