I really don't understand how that clause would scupper any Utd deal. In this article it states if we match first bid only our bid is accepted but surely Bale can just say nah and they'd move to Utd's bid.

To be fair, we've had ITK in here for a while saying the same, people still won't believe it.
But then they say “sources close to...” or similar and they didn’t do that here.

TBH though, and this isn’t a slight on ITK, it’s kind of more official when it comes through Alasdair, who’s kind of a club mouthpiece, and the BBC.

To be fair that's what Levy would like people to think. Especially when a lot of people are getting there hopes up. Our best chance is if there is little or no competition. Still very unlikely but both don't rule it out except for misleading headlines.
