Seems to be lots of rumours that Mahrez to city is done for 75m. Being able to almost double our record signing for a squad player just goes to show how big that gap is. Unbelievable

That's just inevitable when you have a large revenue and gaps to fill in the squad.

Remember they don't own a stadium, and have fake sponsorship, so the gap isn't really as large as you'd think

Who cares if you own a stadium if you're backed by a country? They have no reason to be self sufficient if you can claim your owners are sponsoring your training ground for 400m. It's shady to get around FFP and it's bullshit.

Goes to show how good a job Poch is doing when you see our recent finishes.

Jorginho, Napoli to Man City looks on too. 50m Euro total.

Phew. They really lacked depth. Needed this.

Isnt ferndinho leaving. So they need a DM and have swiftly put down the cash to get him. They will get mahrez and buy the league for another season. Pep said they cant spend crazy every season but the owners will do so until they get the CL.

Fernandinho won't leave this summer but he's 33 so you can't expect him to last more than two seasons at that level and getting some younger competition/first team replacement for him was Guardiola's priority.

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous that they can get around FFP by their ' commercial partners' (his parents and siblings just increasing sponsorship and naming rights )

If you can't spend you're own slave/oil money artificially inflating the club just say it's Eithad's increased sponsorship deals and marketing

You know the same Eithad based in Abu Dhabi whose director is.....HAMED BIN ZAYED AL NAHYAN and member of the royal family

Hmmm wonder if he is related to man city owner....MANSOUR BIN ZAYED AL NAHYAN

That's obviously above board!

Jesus wept, you don't have to be batman to work out they've cheated the system but uefa don't care , corrupt as fuck is football

Yeah it's a fucking joke. You shouldn't be allowed to have sponsors etc. with which you have such a clear and obvious link to because it's so blatantly open to corruption.

Manchester United are interested in signing West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports News understands the Hammers have no intention of the selling the 28-year-old and value him at £50m.

_

Not sure which of them two lines are most amusing :ROFLMAO:

This is the worrying thing. Just about all the big clubs are looking for CM's of some description and we need more than one - and more than one type. Liverpool have been canny in getting Keita done last season and Fabinho done before the summer.

Anyone know who's in charge of their recruitment now ?

So Liverpool have Fernandinho, Utd are getting Fred and City getting Jorginho, so we should have a free run a Savic, or is that a bit optimistic.

Guy called Michael Edwards. Used to work for us but Comolli brought him to Liverpool when he was there I believe. He's one of these stat/analyst types.

Yeah, just did a bit of reading about the guy. Bit more to him than that by the sounds of it. I really don't like the way we are moving toward giving Poch more and more control over recruitment. Of course, he should have a major input and a big say in who comes and goes, but our transfer activity has been pretty uninspiring the last couple of years, since our recruitment structure went tits up, with Mitchell resigning etc.

Yeah sorry I didn't mean it in a derogatory way, I just meant he comes from an analytics background etc. and worked his way up to being DoF. Was just a bit of background rather than me trying to slag him off or anything.

I agree with you on Poch. While I definitely think the manager should have the final say on players I don't believe in the old-school English model of the manager being almost solely responsible. I think you're much better off with a team of people from different areas, with the manager having the final choice. In fairness though it's hard to really know what the structure is at Spurs. Even with the whole Mitchell thing I don't think anyone has every really been clear on what his specific role was. Was he a DoF, was he a Chief Scout, was he Head of Data Analytics, and so on, and what exactly did it involve? Also I don' really know which signings were his call, which were Poch's etc. The club are relatively secretive about the hierarchy of it all it seems.

I have been pondering the very same thing and have just posed that very question in Spurs Chat.

John Terry leaves Villa. Hopefully retires and disappears off the face of the earth. Detestable fuck.
Hope he plays for a few more years, preferable China or somewhere in the east, because I fear he'll be popping up on Sky, BT or BBC when he retires.
