I don't think grealish is an alternative for anybody. Villa are desperate for the cash so he should be relatively cheap.

Loads of potential. Poch will make him work for his opportunities.

Has less to do with Villa, and everything to do with who else might be in for him.
But why would any club pay big money for him given the circumstances? He's hardly going to incite the kind of bidding war that would push his price up to the 20-30m range when his club are on the brink of going into administration. Looking at that thread on Villa talk it seems the only other club that were really in for him were Leicester, it just doesn't seem to me that it will take much to bring him in.

I actually think he could be a decent signing for us - would have preferred Maddison, but similar players really...

Man, I'm not thrilled about this Lamela can do everything this kid will be asked to do.. Waste of money but I reserve the right to be proven wrong.

#avfc stave off immediate threat of administration by promising HMRC £1.2m by end of week -half the total debt. Paid £500k earlier today. Club guarantee remaining £1.2m will be paid quickly. Xia will sell club for right price, but prefers to stay in charge and get new investment.

getting money from somewhere?

Rumours of an American investor - shareholder in New York Yankees - but not sure if he wanted to invest or buy the club at a distressed price.

Either way, the tax bill is just one issue they are facing - they are losing money monthly, and the owner can't get money out of China to lend to the club.

Perhaps goes to show how far some of us were thinking above certain stations when it comes to player recruitment.

If he is a player Poch has earmarked, then as someone who has always wanted the manager to be backed - you get on board with it I guess.

So many people on here have said Lamela is best in the middle behind the striker, I just don't get why we're going to bring in someone else to do that who isn't an absolute knockout star. I don't see how this is an upgrade from what we have. We need to be making upgrades, not keeping the status quo. Thats what this does.

I’ve watched him a couple of times this season when tuning into a villa game in the hope of seeing onomah play. Grealish looked really good in the games I saw.

Would mean we aren’t keen on giving onomah a go in central midfield I suspect unfortunately.

I’d take him though. He looks a good footballer. I bet he’d be in the England squad too pretty quickly.

No way we're dumping 30mil on a championship player who's team is about to go bankrupt and would be nowhere near our starting lineup. I think its a waste of money regardless of how much he costs. We have Lamela to play backup 10 why do we need another one?
Quick question - have you ever seen him play? Ever? Just curious.

He is a decent prospect, I imagine a number of PL teams would be interested, and have the money.

He also is HG - and that is not insignificant for us if we want a full roster in CL.

150M to buy 4-5 players. Not all of those players can be upgrades to this squad with 150M to work with. Naturally that means that 2-3 of those players are going to be young, high potential squad players that can spot start now while still hopefully growing into something special.

If we are getting this kid then surely that's the end of any Pulisic or Bailey deal. I still don't understand were Grealish fits in, but now we will have 6 am/WF for 3 possitions. Beyond that, how we fit Martial into all this I don't know.

I dont mind him as a player but see him more as a attacking mid and think we need more a centre mid.

I don’t really see him as an attacking midfielder. He’s not going to get us many goals that’s for sure and that’s what we need in the three behind Harry.

Haven’t seen him much of him this season other than the play off final. But he was superb in the second half and I can see why teams are interested. Though we did see the best and worst of him within a few minutes in that game. Though I suspect poch likes that aggressive nature grealish has.

Double your money if you back him to to sign for us on skybet...

Question is how confident are we :cautious:

Personally I think he’s a decent player, got a bit about him and I think with better players he could flourish
