I haven't but I have seen Lamela play and I know how our team operates. When does this kid get games when Lucas and Lamela are healthy?

Can't say I have access to Aston Villa games over here in the states. But I think I'm plenty qualified to have an opinion on where we should spend our resources and I don't think AM from the championship is where we should be aiming as a top 3 premier league club. Do you think fans of United, Man City, Liverpool, or Chelsea would be pumped about this deal? Hell I don't think Chelsea fans were even excited about Barkley.

My frustration with this is that we already have a back up #10 in Lamela and would be better placing these funds in another area.
Grealish is a totally different type of player to the two you have mentioned. He is a proper midfielder, whilst as much as I like Lamela and Lucas (with reservations), I do see them as primarily wider players. Lamela does have quick feet and Lucas is quick, but Grealish plays as a midfielder that can operate and interchange very easily and quickly behind the central attacker.

Personally I'm all for sweeping up some of the younger talent in the division below. Maybe some won't make it, but some will - especially with Poch's coaching. Grealish has a high ceiling in my opinion and has the opportunity to get much better.

They seem fairly sure that he will be coming here over on the Villa forum. One member even said he's better than Alli! (y)

Whenever I watch :meh: i'm always amazed at the way he uses his right foot to dribble straight across the front of the defence all the way from the right touchline to the left touchline without ever using his left foot to kick the ball. It's quite a talent, albeit a pointless and ineffective one.

We need to understand what type of club we are. This is way more our sort of signing than any big names. Poch likes a young squad he can mould and we have a modest wave budget.

I personally think having the likes of Winks, Onomah and Grelish as midfield back up is quite exciting. Its what football should be about not a millionaires millionaires version of top trumps.
What we need to understand is that we, somewhat unknowingly, have taken the step up to a continuous top 3 club, and signings we would have done in 2013 or 2015 are not good enough any longer. Things have changed. WE have changed. We must take the responsibility that comes with it.

That's it! We've got the back-up solutions. They are already in the squad. What we don't have are enough players in the core of solid senior players.
Granted it was against a lower league team but the last time these three lined up together we scored 5 goals.. Lamela as a creative force is being incredibly underrated here. This is a guy who was in the Argentina national squad before his injury.

Son - Lamela - Lucas behind Kane is plenty of creativity and attacking power when Eriksen is out.

Depends how highly you rate Lamela and I don’t want to get into a Lamela debate in this thread because they are toxic but I personally think exploring options that may be more effective then him is a good thing, especially considering Grealishs age + price

You turn the bench and your options are Grealish or Sissoko. Who do you choose? Maybe he's not so meh after all...

The boy has talent, just needs a manager to harness it. We all know Poch can be that man
When our squad is healthy Sissoko doesn't make the bench and neither would this kid.

Which injury? (that's my only beef with Lamela, btw)

So you didn’t want Dele from a league 1 club then?

Watching a couple of YouTube clips and while I hate to say it he’s got a bit of Jack Whiltshire about him in the way he plays and faces people up before going past them with a little burst.

Not saying that’s a bad thing by the way

The fact that you believe our rise to top 3 is unknowing is part of the issue. Buying in this way and building a team is what got us where we are, not buying the latest superstar. Why should we abandon that now it has shown to work?

Because football always changes, and we should change with it. What we need this summer are few solid signings, and filling the rest of the squad with our own youth. That's a new and refined approach befitting a top 3 club.

We were a Europa League club at that point and spent 5mil on Dele. Not 15mil and up and a club coming off three in a row top 3 finishes and a knockout of champions league after outplaying Juventus for the vast majority of the tie. Everyone can point to Dele but who else has this worked for? Those deals are so rare.

If we are getting this kid then surely that's the end of any Pulisic or Bailey deal. I still don't understand were Grealish fits in, but now we will have 6 am/WF for 3 possitions.
For what it's worth Herc liked this post, probably means fuck all but could well mean we are dropping interest in Pulisic and Bailey for now. Would make sense.

Really tho, I would be very happy to get Jack if it meant we were saving funds for the likes of Kovacic, Thiago (whos for sale), or Savic. But somehow I feel like the money saved on Pulisic, Malcom etc will go towards De Ligt who I wouldn't be superised to see as our biggest financial transaction end of window.

We just want the football hate figures in one team. Vardy next. And then the entire Liverpool squad. ?

Who is this we? We as a club or we as fans? We have developed into a top 3/4 club over the last 4 years and are clearly doing things the right way. We have now created a monster stadium and have a set of players that other top teams want or would be prepared to pay a hefty amount for.

I trust the management - Poch and Levy who in a relatively short period of time have got us to where we are. Poch believes in the project and is seemingly prepared to stick around. Is he patently wrong? He wants to take us further forward by all accounts. He must be onboard with this.
