To me Southgate is building a team much in the Spurs mould, with key players in the key positions. I feel it should be a reasonably easy sell from Poch to Grealish himself to come to Spurs, by suggesting that if he does well he will almost automatically by default get into the senior squad.

*As a complete aside - Sissoko has been described by Poch as the best 'transition' player at the club. Someone who is able to pick the ball up very deep in our own half and carry it high up the pitch. In my opinion no other players are able to do that well at the moment since Walker left and Rose has been missing. Grealish and Sissoko are totally different types of players. There is a chance that Lucas could do that but I suspect he wouldn't be in the position in the first place in order to do so. If Poch feels he can get by without Sissoko then that's a totally different discussion for elsewhere.

If I had a choice I know who I would rather have coming off of the bench.

The Eurosport piece doesn't say a whole lot. From the reports over the last 24-48 hours it isn't as though they are in a great place cash flow wise so I doubt, at this present moment, they could ask for as much as that.

Numbers aren't everything. If he's replacing Sissokko as far as time on the pitch is concerned his numbers are phenomenal. Just imagine selling Sissokko for a similar fee to Grealish, does that sound more acceptable now, because I can see Levy getting 20-25 mil for him.

Exactly the point I've been making. Those saying he won't get on our bench need to realise we won't have a fully fit and rested 18 each week. Sissoko played a part in most of our games last season and given the chance I'd much rather trust someone who is capable of controlling a football properly.

It's blinkered and agenda driven views that are against this signing. He's no world beater, but he's better than Sissoko by a mile and possibly more reliable and consistent than Lamela. Lamela is a cult hero but is often absolute dogtods. Great at pressing etc and his workrate/effort is phenomenal, but his actual play is often crap.

What's the likelihood that Grealish goes on to be player who's winning man of the match awards in the knock out stages of the Champs League? Not great IMO

Fair enough perhaps, but point to any squad in the world and you could find 10 players who aren’t likely to either. It’s just not how team building works. And go back two years I bet you could find 100 posters on here who would say “this Harry Winks lad seems alright, but can you imagine him being the best player on the pitch against Real Madrid in the Champions League?” End of the day, if Poch wants him then I’m all for it.

I know it's a cliché and ultimately nothing we don't already know, but I work in Birmingham and two of my best mates are villa fans. Both have said they've heard that grealish's dad has been telling everyone he's joining us

I don't get all the negativity about this signing. One of the positions we desperately need to fill this summer is an Eriksen back-up. It's a safe bet that we won't be signing a superstar to rotate with him, so who should we get in to play a handful of games? Surely one of the brightest young English talents at a reasonable fee is exactly what we should be buying here.

I don't care about how much he costs. He's Poch's number one choice and I've seen a lot of him & he will fit in very well in our Team & will be worth a hell of a lot more if and when we decided to sell him.

Has this actually been confirmed anywhere? I've just seen hints that it could possibly be him mentioned in some of Herc's posts.

It was @Hercules that stated it yesterday in his post about 2 signings before the world cup one being "meh" to some fans

I imagine any deal we do will be a high headline figure (£25m-ish) but heavily dependent on appareances and England caps. Initial outlay will proabably be £10-15m, which is fine.

Hmm conveniently ignoring that Spurs are trying to get in De Ligt and Martial?
Difference is, around August 9th, you will hear Martial is off because United will not sell to someone they view as a rival from ITK’s because its around then that Levy will finally realize its a futile exercise trying to get other clubs to sell to league rivals even though its normal practice for us.

De Light could possibly be off as well as there conflicting reports on him.

Lets just wait and see first, point is the window has literally only opened and people are already throwing their toys about.
