If you haven't seen much of a player I think the best way to judge them is to see what the fans of his club think of him. Most Villa fans are spaffing themselves silly over Grealish and plenty think 40million would be a bargain given his potential. They're no doubt a bit biased but I'd still take their opinions over the "don't rate him" brigade who have probably watched him for about 8 minutes all season.

Also his mazy run in the play off final was RIDICULOUS.

This?

Not the type of signing a top 3 club should be making, he will so rarely play. Even Sissoko plays a different role than him now that we have Lamela and Lucas back. Sissoko plays a defensive role now so this kid won't be taking those minutes.

Just you all wait to hear later in the window we've been priced out of a deal when we blew 20 mil on our 6th AM option, who will become 7th option if we end up getting Martial.

If Grealish comes it either spells the end of Lamela or we won't be signing a Martial etc. Three backup attacking mids is exactly what is required, if we signed say for example Martial then Grealish, Lucas and Son off bench is stronger no?

Son and Martial (again as example) would rotate, Grealish would act as back up to Eriksen and allow us to actually rest the guy occasionally.

Sissoko plays a Sissoko role, one created just for him as he's incapable of doing anything else. Grealish would 100% have taken those minutes and offered something useful.

I'm all for signing him if, massive if, we sign Martial or an equivalent too. Yeah he's got annoying hair and wears his socks too low but he's always clearly had huge natural ability and if you've watched him this season you can definitely see something has clicked. It's the championship but everyone is going on about Sessegnon too, Grealish was the best player on the pitch in the final.

I mean honestly when do you see him playing?
4 times in real life and countless times on television. In the UK we have highlight programmes on Saturdays and Sundays and I do try and watch these.

Doesn't mean much of anything to me. They're a championship club, its not like we're stealing Schalkes best player or something like that. We should be fishing in bigger ponds. Or skipping out on this fishing trip all together.

How can you be so sure when you admit you’ve never seen him play

Yeah, good players can never be found in lower leagues. Like, when was the last time we signed someone great from a team like MK Dons? It never happens!

Not my job - but any of the 3 behind Harry at certain times or even (at a push, but probably not) instead of Dembele/Eriksen. It is his job to work his hardest to displace someone and for the others to keep him out. I believe that if he ends up playing better than any other then he will get his game time.

Do you want us to sign isco to be back up to be Eriksen?it's not like we're selling Erisken and replacing him with Grealish.

I don't see the issue here we have just signed the best manager at developing young English talents to a 5 year contract. We are now giving him one of the top English talents to work with and not in a position where we could realistically find a ready made player better than what we already have. Who in world football apart from De Bruyne is better than Eriksen in what he does? and who that's close to Eriksen wants to sit on the bench?

The fact that a team doesn't want to lose a young homegrown player doesn't mean a whole lot to me. I saw Spurs fans clamor that Alex Pritchard was the future, Tom Carrol, Josh Onomah, Marcus Edwards. No one wants to see their young homegrown players leave and everyone overrates them. We watched Chelsea overpay for homegrown backups last year and how did those turn out? Do people really think Grealish is better than Barkley or Drinkwater? Those guys couldn't crack it at Chelsea who were horrible for the second half of the season. Yet Grealish is going to come in and beat out Lamela, Lucas and maybe Martial for minutes?

I don't want to buy a Eriksen backup at all thats my point. Lamelas best position is at the 10. Let him get those backup minutes. Its an unnecessary portion of our budget going out to an unnecessary player.

MK Dons were league 1... Alli was a quality signing. Jamie Vardy was bought from Non league Fleetwood. Just because they play for a lower quality team doesn't mean they are a lower quality player. It means they have gone under the radar.

Alli cost 5 mil!! Not freaking 20 and we needed attacking midfield depth back then. I don't think we do now. Do people forget Lucas Moura could hardly get a game when we were playing in 3 competitions?
