What about contract renawals though, i bet no one is factoring these in as part of the £150
Not a huge factor - even if the total raises were in the neighborhood of £500K per week, that is still only* £26M annually. In the big picture, that is less than 20% of the £150M.

*I say only, because its not my money...

Herc has been hinting for quite some time that there's a player or two off the radar. He's also been hinting that they're the kind of deals that are going to go down a lot nearer deadline day. He obviously can't come out and say exactly what's going down because it might put those deals into jeopardy or ruin the surprise. We wouldn't be keeping our best players without making them some serious promises about our ambitions. I honestly think there are good things in the pipeline. ;)

I don't have the hots for her, but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't have a go.

Grealish is a goer though btw if we can agree a fee. Player and agents happy etc.

Do you mean you prefer Grealish rather than Vanessa!

I read the posts thanks ?
I just don’t think we should sell to the highest bidder regardless.
It stinks of the walker deal last season with sancho. We wanted one of their youngster was told no and we still sold them walker anyway because with £50 we could replace him with a better rb.
How did that work out again?

meant to put in brackets (not aimed at you).

if no one else is bidding we can't sell him, and if we believed we could get £55m for him that will of been involved in the thinking of what we can spend.

with Aurier he was heavily rotated last season, in his 1st season with us, without a pre season behind him, settling into a new country and new culture. I would give him another season, Walker had enough brain farts, 1 or 2 costing us a CL place

Really appreciate all the info from all the itk posters.

personally, I trust poch and levy to do the best for the club. so whoever they get I will support fully. Ovb I've got players I like and would prefer out of the mentioned names but unlike some football fans, I understand I'm not a true expert...

With the £150m I'm assuming that means we will do our best to get the best signings available regardless of what the net spend ends up as, we just hope the net spendwill be closer to £50m than £100m.

As long as we get the key signings we want and spend that £150m+ mooted, I'd probably rather the net spend is lower, as it's better for the club.

Once upon a time £50m was seen as stupid. What in the fuck is happening? The whole thing is so out of control. According to various reports we are something like the 12th richest club in the world and now can’t afford to compete. Jeez.

Still got a funny feeling about Martial. I think he'll be one of those players that will be surplus to requirements and the selling club (united in this case) will be offering everywhere come the middle of august.

These are the types of deal Levy loves

I think some of us are forgetting the domino effect as well; some deals are not going to happen until others fall into place.

Like spoilt kids at xmas on here.
More like kids who see an actual need for a new, shiny macbook pro and an iPhone for Christmas and have been told that things are different this (holiday) season, but keep only hearing about a handheld Sega videogame from the 1980s being the one firm gift in the pipeline, and they STILL have to sell one of their pets.

right, but in your scenario - to which I responded - you said Man United would buy someone else, and we would put Toby in the reserves for 6 months.

Hence - my response that Spurs are the only loser in that scenario. United strengthen, and instead of ~£65M for Toby, Spurs get £25M or worse, if he gets injured again...

If the United offer is legit, its a no-brainer for Spurs.

Threaten to put Toby in the reserves.
My bad I didn’t make that clear
It’s early days in the transfer window cash only deal with Utd should be a last resort if at all imo

I think it is clear the one hundred and fifty million figure is for one just a ballpark figure and could in fact increase a bit if we make some of the bonus sales we want, or get more than we might have first hoped for certain players, or the exact player becomes available who we want. But it is just we wanna get a fair amount of that back from sales, but if we do or not doesn't hinder us in the market, like it has done in the past. However, I can see why there would be some confusion as this wasn't made that clear initially, though I will probably be told it was. Also I don't think it has suddenly gone down to one fifty mill player, it seems to have been suggested that it could be one player around fifty but dressed up as more than this. This doesn't mean there couldn't be another around that baseline figure also.

What happens when they buy someone else and we lose the sale as a result? we lose £50m on a player we (Poch) don’t want.

We sell him to someone else for slightly less or he stays and fights for his place worst case scenario.
Or let’s bend over backwards and do what the big clubs want us to do

Don't forget that the window ends early this year and we have the small matter of a month long tournament that happens to be the biggest competition in world football on the way.

Let's assume that transfer business pretty much stops during the world cup (which it won't entirely but will for any players in it) then we have basically 3 weeks.

I think it's a bit early to be panicing but I can understand why people are.
