My God, are you still at it? Thought I'd drop in and see where we've got. Brings this to mind...

Like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel
As the images unwind, like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind!

We are signing Dusty Springfield?

He played 850 minutes of premier league football that season. Hardly a major part of their midfield. To put that in context, that’s 500 fewer minutes than sissoko played for us this season (in the league!!) would anyone even consider Sissoko a key feature of our premier league midfield last year?

I got no beef with people not wanting him but it’d be a whole lot easier to take your points seriously if you didn’t get basic facts wrong. Otherwise it just sounds like you’ve made up your mind based on nothing more than your gut and nothing anyone else says could possibly change your mind.

You do know he missed a fair bit of last season through an injury ?

Grealish was part of the dreadful Villa midfield when they were relegated. He rarely shone in a team that lacked any quality, so he's had PL experience, albeit in a shite team, but never stood out as outstanding potential.
Funny you remember it like that as I remember it he very much stood out and did as much as any other player to keep them up. As I recall he definitely stood out as outstanding talent and would have been picked up by another club if he had wanted to leave and had been a good boy off the field. At 18/19 he definitely held his own in the Premier league.

My biggest issue is that he doesn't want to come. Kid's Villa through and through, and if we get him just because Villa force him out then I don't think he'll be as motivated as he is at Villa.

Sorry Slick, but that's being naive thinking he would stay at Villa in the Championship when he could be playing Premier League and Champions League alongside Kane, Eriksen, Alli etc. or any other team playing in the Champions League..

I wonder if in four years time we'll be looking at an English youngster and people will be saying "he's untried not like when we bought Grealish who was wanted by all the top clubs, memory is a funny thing.
As I recall the general consensus with Eriksen was that he never did it in the big games.

If we are signing him, I at least hope the medical team say they need to give him a grade 1 all over in order to scan his head. He's got the barnet of a West Ham player.

He’ll jump at the chance to come here for footballing reasons. Besides if he does love villa like you say then he will realise that his transfer fee might help to save them from going under.

If Poch approves his signing I trust his judgement on English players more than continental ones. After all, he supplied nearly half debutants for England national team in his time over here including Southhampton. English players really blossom under Poch's guidance. Who could predict Tripps being what he is now when he signed?

This thread! So many people have Villa supporting mates. It must be true that you're only ever 3 feet away from a Villa fan :cautious:

If we get him we might not end up paying the full fee anyway should villa be desperate for the money. Remember back to the bale deal. We only ended up paying £8 million for him in the end as Southampton were in money troubles.

My mate who's a Burnley fanatic and has a season ticket at Turf Moor did, in fairness.

He raved about Trippier almost as much as Villa fans are about Grealish.

Take from that what you will...

I read somewhere in the last couple of days that things are so bad (now the money has stopped coming from China and they didn't get promoted) they are selling off a patch of land next to the stadium for hopefully a million or so - it was used as the ground staff car park.

The reprieve from the taxman is only temporary, monthly paye/Nic monies will still be due.

For a bit of Villa perspective, it's worth looking here: https://www.villatalk.com/topic/4026-jack-grealish/?page=741

Seems like he's a key man for them, not just in terms of ability but in terms of what he brings to their team spirit/set-up and being 'one of their own' he connects well with the fans. Many look to be sad to see him moving on.
Honestly have a read of page 670 and beyond on their forum. They LOVE HIM. gets me a little more excited at the prospect of signing him.
