His buyout is €300m apparentlyTaking in GF's info leaves the question as to what exactly a transfer request would do in this situation? My understanding is all contracts in Spain must have a release clause. Kovacic's is rumored to be ~40M. Activation of the RC would leave RM powerless to retain him so why would he hand in a transfer request and lose out on the loyalty bonus money?
When city tried to sign him earlier in the window the reported figure set by Madrid was €80 million. But Kovacic wants game time and with us he would surely be a starter.
Problem is that players like to back themselves. If Pep tells him he'll have a fair chance of starting then that'd probably be enough.
Depends how badly he's been burned at RM. Maybe it could work in our favour if our interest is real.
Time to put on the wibble pantsRumours he has put a transfer request in
I wouldn’t go near that club with Mourinho in charge. Compare Prem Pogba with WC Pogbayep, biggest problem sounds like united being interested though.
I think with the players Madrid are supposedly after then they will be happy to shift him on for €40-60m, it goes somewhere to help them bring in Mbappe, Hazard or Neymar. I can certainly see him being let go.His buyout is €300m apparently
The issue for Madrid with this valuation is that there are only so many clubs willing to pay north of 40m for him and they are all in the PL, and with the UK window closing on 9/8 Madrid will desperate to recoup that cash to put towards their mega star target. When city tried to sign him earlier in the window the reported figure set by Madrid was €80 million. But Kovacic wants game time and with us he would surely be a starter.
We're not being linked at all with him though so have to wonder if we are even interested
I'm hoping Pep has shot himself in the foot with his Jorginho comments. No way would he get much football. Would be pointless going from RM to City. Pep's got KDB, Silva, Gundogan, Fernandinho etc. Foden too.
Certainly wouldn't play every week.
He may well back himself but I'm guessing the experience he's had at Madrid will have given him a dose of realism. In the Marca interview where he laid out why he wanted to leave he talked about how the prestige of the club was a huge draw, but that he knows he needs to be playing in order to continue progressing. It's the whole reason he wants out of the biggest club in the world, so it will surely be the number one factor in his decision for where he goes.Problem is that players like to back themselves. If Pep tells him he'll have a fair chance of starting then that'd probably be enough.

Logic suggests so. He’s 24, and can’t really fuck about on another bench for a few years if he’s serious about his career. Plus we shouldn’t sell ourselves too short. Kane, Ericksen Alli, Lloris, Poch....a good run in the CL last year etc. Knowing Dembele is off, and considering all the above factors, I’d be really tempted if I was him. Much more than going to Chelsea or Utd, but who knowsMaybe I'm delusional, but I can't really see a point in changing a bench in Madrid for a bench in Manchester.
