We don't overspend like our competitors, so we need to be shrewder in the market. That's been our MO. Some work out big time, some are OK, and some don't work. This strategy has served us well, but the market has changed. Even average players are crazy expensive now.
We've assembled a fantastic first 15, but it will cost a fortune to replace any of them to the same level. Which we don't do. So it would only take a string of purchases that didn't work out to leave us with a weakened squad. You can see this happening already with Sissoko, Janssen, GKN.
Now, hopefully none of our key players will want to leave, but it won't stay that way forever
See I could spin it that Levy isn't buying the dross we used to and is now just looking at proper players that will improve us. Let's see where we are in a weeks time.
