Can’t believe how many babies are now on SC nothing but negativity moan moan moan!!

At the end of the transfer window ladies and gents we will make a signing but if we don’t it’s not the end of the world because there’ll be other windows.
Pop over to Harry Hotspur and read the negative drivel on that pitiful site and you’ll feel better.

JJ on Twitter:

“A lot don’t appreciate it on here and just expect us to spend 90million on Martial with 300 a week on wages - we simply can’t orvwobt do that - yet”
I could be wrong but I think he is being hyperbolic about people's unrealistic expectations of where the club are. That said it does not sound like Martial is much of a goer.

Also JJ said this. Not sure if it’s opinion so posting it here rather than the main thread:

“We are finally in position to push on but clubs are just not selling players & agents are being dishonest plus players agree we think done then the agents are still touting same player on the market & we don’t do deal like that - terrible market”

I wonder if the agents will buckle down this week knowing the big money window is about to close? Or if they’ll play on knowing they will have 3 weeks to sell the player elsewhere?

Sounds worrying
The problem for the agents is, if they want the most money, they’re going to have to strap it down and get deals done within the EPL this week. It’s not like they’re only holding up deals with us, pretty much the whole league is moving extremely slow in the market.

I imagine we’ll see a huge uptick this week bc they know where the most money is. England.

More likely the former. PL money is a whole different level

He isn’t. History shows that. He especially does not know how to play on the top table. Sometimes we all reach our limits in life. I believe he has reached his. And don’t give me all the stadium cost bollox. We needed to strengthen the first team and sell those we do not want cheaply. Unfortunately unless we pull a rabbit out of the hat we will fall behind the pack this year.

Whilst I agree with your overall sentiments I think selling the deadwood may not be as easy as this.

If players are sat on the balance sheet as assets then their value is amortised over 5 years.
If we sell them this amount left would have to be written off against the transfer fee.

Take Sissoko. We buy him for £30 million and amortise £6 million a season so he's now an 'asset' worth £18 million.
If we sell him for £15 million, I suspect, we don't have £15 million towards another player but a loss of £3 million.

Whereas players like Rose and Dembele have zero value as they have been here a long time. As a result selling them would be all profit.

Not 100% on this as I'm no accountant but this is how it works for several of the bigger companies I have worked for in regards to assets.

One note on this, and maybe it's a misread on my part, but we'll struggle to get (near) world class players that are going to be willing to speak to us exclusively and not consider other offers, especially considering our deals seem to drag so long.

I like the part about us being in a position to push on though, suggests there are funds there if deals fall into place next week.

Would be silly coz the amount of money that even average teams have in the premiership due to TV money means they will miss the gravy train... only a handful of other clubs in Europe will have the same sort of money

This was my thought. I'd imagine most agents are pushing players around and finding a player that's just head over heels for one club is tough I imagine.

If we do end this summer without signing a single player, it will at least be some consolation to know that it's everyone else's fault.

Does he mean in a position to push on as in as a club or at this moment in time in the window?

think he just means everything else is in place (stadium, finances, etc) but then we've been screwed by the market just as we're about to finally step up.

if that's not the very definition of spursy (a term I hate btw) I don't know what is.

That such a losers mentality. It's almost embarrassing. "They'll be other windows" joker. Do you ever want to see success? We're in touching distance now, in other windows we might not be. People who defend this window, or belittle those who actually want to see spurs progress irk the shit out of me.
Even if we sign a player today it'll be an absolute farce of a window, because of how long it'll take said player to be implemented into the team.
I hope all of you who are defending this shit show are comforted by your sanctimonious views come May time.

My biggest concern about this potential transfer, and one that, in my opinion, needs that most consideration is this. Do we call him Tony, Anthony or (the full New Jersey) Anfony?

This is just ridiculous mate.
Of course we all want to see success, and of course we want to see the club progress. And no-body is "defending" the window, there are just a fair few of us who don't see it as a complete disaster, and still won't if we sign nobody.

A "farce of a window" or a "shit show" would be selling our best players and replacing them with rubbish, and we've seen far too many windows like that. This doesn't look like one of them.

Some of us are actually going to enjoy where we're at, because let me tell you, for most of my time supporting Spurs I didn't even dream we would be in a position like this- great players, a world-class club-grown striker, a manager who oozes class, challenging at the top of the league, regularly in the CL, one of the best stadiums in the world about to be finished...

Of course we all want to see Spurs win things. But there was a time when it looked like the club might cease to exist, there was a time we were relegated, there were times when we never had more than a single quality player at the club, there were times when we were managed by complete idiots... I'll take where we're at now and be fucking grateful for it.

If you think that an inactive transfer window is a bad thing, that's your prerogative. But to accuse other people of holding sanctimonious views because they don't whine like spoilt children about it is a bit much.

What do you think he does for a living? What circles do you think he mixes in and has done for decades outside of football? He's not some little fifty shilling tailor who got lucky and got a job as a football club chairman.

I have noticed that you usually miss the point. I see that hasn’t changed?
