I was born in London and live in London now, but I studied at Manchester Uni for 4 years. It’s a total myth than more local Mancs support City. More support United for sure, and there’s loads of statistics online to back this up.

Anyway, it is terrible article and I don’t want to derail the thread.

I just hope we don’t roll over and sell Toby to United for anything other than the going rate.

Correct. But the MEN is not among them.

Paul Hurst - Press Association saying it's because they see a Boateng deal as more feasible, mentions that we want £75m for Toby. Wonder if that Toby bit was part of the press leak? if so I'm still betting on it being a game of chicken with Levy.
But but but they won the game of bluff already?!?

The MEN wouldn't lie, I won't have it

If this game of Chicken ends up with them signing Boateng for £50m I think you'd have a strong argument that Utd came off worse!

If Toby stays this summer it will be telling how much our net budget is. You'd think the fringe lads would just about recoup the Grealish fee and the CM/DM would be the net budget in that case.

If we sold the fringe lot, kept our Belgians (for 6 months) and signed Grealish and say Lobotka it would be a pretty damn solid window (albeit not too exciting).

I think Utd will pay up for Toby though.

I think our high asking price for Toby will see them more open to striking a deal on Martial come the end.

If we end up this window seeing Toby & a couple of others leave with only Martial coming in I think we'd have done good business given all of the circumstances.

A CM is needed but I honestly can't think of anyone that I know will truly add class our Champions League level requires. Could we be looking at a breakout season for someone like Skipp perhaps?

If it was up to me Grealish, Martial and either Kovacic or Ndombele would be coming with a view of possibly brining De Ligt in next summer depending on how 32 year old Jan is faring then. The news of Sissoko & Janssen generating interest is certainly a step in the right direction however

Amazing we have not seen anything other than the Hugo returning Video today..... maybe hugo turned up first and then Toby did not turn up so stopped all videos, all players have not been active on social media like they normally are.... club trying to hide something?

EDIT - He has turned up pics on spurs official twitter

I think it would be an obvious mistake to sell Toby without bringing in a replacement. Foyth is essentially a youth player, little to no PL experience. Dier is presumably not converting back to a full-time CB, so that means if either Sanchez or Jan are injured (which is hardly unlikely) we are highly compromised.

Jan is getting on, so we'll need to bring in another CB soon anyway. We were in for De Ligt for a reason...

Think he might have to, and poch has said he would like him to play there.

I can’t imagine he would be happy as reserve CB, but we’ll see. He’s not really up to standard in midfield for me. Makes too many stupid and costly mistakes. If Dier is third choice CB and not used in midfield then that would be ok.

I agree, but he may grudgingly accept it given the last minute sale of Toby, the lack of squad space and the occ run at DM.

No World Cup this year. Plus you could argue he has as much chance of playing in England's back 3 as DM. Plus he could well still be first choice DM, certainly won't be first choice CB.
