Toby signing a new contract would calm down a lot of people if he has settled his differences with everyone at the club.

So we will be the first team to have not signed a single player in the summer transfer window since it was introduced in 2003 apparently.

I can see the narrative that the media will spin at us all season now. Every home game...they’ve built a beautiful stadium, but what ambition are they showing to their fans and players in the transfer market...

I think you misunderstood. I'll still go to games and bought a ticket for Fulham game but just don't see another way to make my voice heard so cancelling the monthly subscription is my way!
Unlikely you'll be able to buy tickets for many games at the New Stadium, certainly in the first few months, without one.

Nice bit from JJ there.

If Poch is cool, we all should be cool.

Now just keep Toby, and let's smash the geordies on Saturday.

Personally, I'm not going to the Wembley game. The club don't deserve my money. I feel fucking cheated on. Slightly off topic but look at last season, going to Wembley week in week out, it's a nightmare to get up there. Not only that, the drinks, food etc are expensive as fuck, kits, match day tickets. I feel for the ST holders that were expecting a team with fresh faces, they're paying a fortune to watch Sissoko and Dier in CM. The least the club can do to repay for our undoubted loyalty is to give us at least ONE decent signing to get us excited for the new season in the new stadium. It was obviously possible to make a statement with intent by signing a player like e.g Zaha earlier on in the window and if that was the only signing I wouldn't of been disappointed.

I love this club and was excited for Saturday, but now I just feel like shit.

That's one possibility. The other altogether more likely one is that Bats got offered far more more money by Chelsea, possibly an amount that put him on more even than our star players at the time. As for Zaha we've had a lot of ITK saying it was never on and we've had zero interest in him.
Zaha? A lot of itk that he is the one poch rates, and in that window media reports incl palace chairman talking about our low ball offer and later 30 something million offer. This window, again plenty of itk, but not willing to do 75 (which I don't have a problem with if true). No interest in zaha is an interesting response. Kind of unconvincing.

So it really was Martial or bust.

Grealish and Martial I would have thought. Levy must have thought Grealish was in the bag....until Villa was sold and everything changed.

And he must have thought UTD were desperate enough for Toby to do a deal that involved Martial going the other way. Call it circumstance or misjudgement or maybe he took his eye off the ball 'cos he was concentrating on the stadium, but I guess if they were the targets, anything else was second/third best; or as you say 'bust'.

Well it looks like we are finally going to achieve the perfect net spend, that's something at least. The beauty of all this is that we may still lose key players that we can't replace. Top job all round.

Well it’s certainly pleasing if he isn’t pissed off behind the scenes.

Personally though, it doesn’t change my view on this window and our transfer strategy and what a massive missed opportunity it is. A missed opportunity which I fear we could be feeling the ramifications of on the pitch over the next few years.

It's been a shambles of a window and we have every right to be critical of Levy and the club for that but I completely agree that a meltdown is not needed if we are confident that Poch is here to stay and hopefully the top stars. My concern was whether they would feel like we were repeating the last 2 seasons and want to move on if they felt it was our ceiling.

And I'm as frustrated as most, but honestly if Poch is genuinely content, and he looked it in his presser, that is the main thing.

We've a great team, and I expect lucas and Serge to be even better this season.

Toby staying and being up for it, would be insanely good.

Settled team, with great harmony - counts more than people think.

Feeling good ( bit bi polar though)

Of course he did, we all noticed :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

See @vegassd below, and @spurs mental
Worth listening to.

But nobody will as it doesn't fit the narrative

I could agree with that list if we were in competition with those clubs - The reality is that expectation from recent seasons makes us a top 4 club & minimum top 6, not a mid-table team - Irrelevant imo

See @vegassd below, and @spurs mental

He didn't. You even highlighted it and still managed to not read it correctly. He said every club BELOW us in terms of stature.

Oh wait I see what you did there
It will be largely ignored no doubt. Everyone says JJ is up there as the most reliable until he says something that doesn't fit a narrative.

True that

LOL watch everyone ignore that JJ info, who is probably the best ITK, as it doesn't fit the meltdown narrative.

The sad reality

I think the lesson here is confirming that you need bundles and bundles of salt when reading ITK. All of it is given in good faith but not one of them said we wouldn’t be buying anyone, which is proof that situations change all the time, sometimes beyond Spurs’ control. I’m sure at various points throughout the window, we were looking at Zaha, Martial etc but it didn’t happen because shit changes daily. Villa being taken over by billionaires is one example.

This thread should be fun. It’s a bit of an insight into the club at best. The fact we didn’t sign anyone is obviously depressing and that should never happen for a club ‘challenging for the league’. But people who take a positive ITK bit of news as an absolute given, will invariably always be let down because it always changes.

I believed every bit of ITK from our main posters because I believe that’s how it was at the time of their posts. I didn’t believe all of it would come off because I know from experience on this forum and being a Spurs supporter that most of our stuff doesn’t. I still enjoyed the ITK though. It’s tough not to get excited at a bit of very positive ITK (Zaha, Martial, Kovacic etc) but you absolutely have to class it as just a bit of info rather than a ‘YES WE’VE GOT HIM AND I’LL KILL MYSELF IF THIS DOESN’T COME OFF’! If we can manage that, there will be a lot less anxiety in here. But of course there’s no denying it’s unbelievably shit that we didn’t sign anyone.

On the plus side, we have Newcastle Saturday and they’re more disjointed than us!

Can't fucking wait :)

I believe he was replying to a poster that was saying that the clubs below us were better at transfers than us because they all added at least one player. BBLG was basically saying that yeah, those clubs did make transfers but are any of those transfers the sort of quality that we would want.

So I agree that it's irrelevant, but it's the original poster whose statement was irrelevant.

Someone who can read/ isn't selective with his reading!

Well that’s that then. Back to looking forward to @thinktank formations

And that is a truly wonderful thing!

That is a big worry indeed.
